Very charming village and a great place to stay especially if you take the late ferry from Hirtshals. It is a smaller town but I rate that as a plus as the walkplatz is somewhat limited - which makes me feel comfortable as the people are friendly.

The hotel was located conventiently near both the train and the ferry terminal. When attempting to check in before 15:00 the desk clerk was extremely rude, interrupting and admonishing me for arriving early before I could even introduce myself. We ended up having to wait until 50 minutes after official check-in time to have access to our room. We booked the Presidential Suite and were very disappointed with it. It was old and dated, with dirty carpet, dusty surfaces and missing both the bathrobes and slippers that were listed as provided amenities. Also, it is very annoying to have a mini-bar but no prices. There was no telephone in the room so the only way to contact the staff was by going to the front desk and waiting in line. The property is very dated and in serious need of a renovation. In addition, the staff could use a refresher course in customer courtesy.

First time on our Norway trip you didn‘t feel disappointed or „just eating for survival“ being unable for medical reasons to eat gluten. Staff was very helpful at breakfast to walk you through allergene issues, but some newer staff members need to be informed that you cannot take the same knife to cut glutenfree bread than normal bread (no harm was done as I know that myself, but to avoid medical emergencies, the topic of cross-contaminations should be addressed with the breakfast service staff.
