I booked for standard jr room which cost me around 80 for one night then when I check in on that day, the staff said my room already fully booked and they’ll upgraded me to triple room w/out any add charges. Then I okay n proceed since I just stay there for 1 night. But what really disappointed me is the room is very smelly, the toilet bowl is not clean which I think there is something and the smell fuhh then I decided to clean it with my own soap n no more unpleasant smell but the bed comforter I don’t know what to say, it seem like it never change or wash. And the aircond is not well function, really hot that night. That was my experience for staying 1 night and ya I didn’t said anything to staff since they upgraded me for free but still I feel cheated due to room provided was not satisfied. End up paying 85myr. But the staff is friendly and hotel ambiance is nice. Thanks

Historic Melaka (or Malacca) is the capital of the Malaysian state of the same name, home to one of the country’s first sultanates. The replica of the sultan’s palace is one of the city’s top attractions.
The end of the sultanate came with the Portuguese conquest of Melaka in the 16th century. Reminders of this period include part of A Famosa fort, and there is also a fort built by the next settlers, the Dutch. Several Dutch churches also remain, including Christ Church with its pinkish façade.
Nowadays, Melaka is a melting pot of various cultures, and Chinese temples, such as wonderful Cheng Hoon Teng, sit happily alongside Hindu temples and mosques. The most spectacularly located of the latter is Masjid Selat (or Malacca Straits Mosque), on stilts above waters lapping an offshore island.
Many Melaka hotels on Booking.com are near the promenade lining the narrow city beach, and others are near more secluded beaches in the suburbs. The Melaka River splits the city into 2, and the further inland you travel along it, the more traditional the buildings become.
Just before the river’s first bend is Jonker Street, the heart of Chinatown and popular for its night markets, while a few miles to the north is Melaka Airport in the Batu Berendam district.

Loved that it is mostly a preserved heritage area, but with all modern amenities accessible for a tourist / traveler. Loved the experience of Jonker Walk and the river cruise. Missed out on the night activities due to the short length of our stay but sure that it would have added to the positive impression we have of Melaka. Do look out for the very refreshing watermelon drink they serve on Jonker Walk (ice cold and blended in the watermelon itself!). Also. if you do not have your own vehicle, get an accommodation from the city center and you can easily walk around to the popular sites or take a whole day boat pass to hop on and off from different areas!

I hadn't been to Melaka for almost 20 years, so wasn't sure how much it had changed, but I can now say that it was amazing! The food is as good as ever (better, even?). The people are friendly and laid back, and always have time to chat. There's so much to see and do, so much history to take in. If you're coming from Europe or North America, you'll be very pleasantly surprised at how reasonable everything is here. Getting around is super easy, quick and cheap with Grab. A 5-10 minute trip will cost you just a couple of pounds. The choice of food is incredible – from Malay, Indian, Nonya, Chinese – you'll be able to try something new at every meal, and it will be very reasonably priced, freshly prepared and delicious. You're never far from a great food court, street vendor or food shop. There are some wonderful little shops off the main Jonker Walk, selling everything from incense, exotic teas, sundries, antiques, artwork, hand-carved wooden seals and signs and local culinary delicacies. Some food Highlights for me include the Laksa at Medan Selera Tengkera hawker centre (made to a recipe perfected over 40 years). Hainaness Mutton (The shop has been making delicious food in this location for 80-odd years). Cendol Jam Besar in Red Square (for the best Durian Cendol). East & West Rendezvous by Aunty Grace (For delicious freshly hand made Nonya Kueh – traditional and delicious sweet treats). Halle Herbal Tea House on Jalan Hang Kasturi (They do an amazing hot or cold herbal tea (Jamu) brewed from 24 medicinal herbs). Lin Neo Delight – Best Nonya food. Yi Yuan Dim Sim House (Amazing selection of Dim Sum). Cash Chong Restaurant for their Yong Tau Foo. Capital Seafood Longkang Siham (huge selection of seafood and shellfish grilled on charcoal). Beh Leh Hainan Satay (very popular Satay restaurant, with their signature pineapple (not peanut!) sauce). Tuan Yuan Chicken Rice Ball restaurant (unbelievable value delicious chicken rice).

Melaka is a 2-hour drive from Kuala Lumpur. This place is rich in culture and history. Ideal place for vacation and relaxation. It can be hot like every day but prepare for rain anytime. You can find a lot of local food from Chinese, Malay, Indian, Thailand and many more. I recommend you visit and add to your bucket list.

Most of the attractions are centralised and within walking distance, we need not look for transport.
There are many creative attractions which you don't see in other towns of Malaysia.
Some of the shops/stalls were closed even during peak times. Town council/Tourism Board should enforce strict opening times.
The price of tickets for attractions are pricey for locals. There should be a significant margin of price difference between locals and foreigners. Some tickets did have a price difference but not significant. Assuming a family of five visiting, it has a lot of cost impact.

Location was perfect, just a 5 minute walk through Little India to the river and centre of town. Room was quiet.
The hotel was nicely designed and reception was friendly and helpful. The parking behind the hotel was great.
The room was clean and comfy, the bed was firm as expected in Malaysia but comfy. We didn't use the rooftop pool but it looked good.
Breakfast was a buffet with toast, cereal, roti, curly fries, chicken curry, noodles and I think a few more things. All was nice.
- Room space is big
- Parking in front of hotel
- Walking distance to A Famosa Port, Mahkota Prade and Dataran Pahlawan
- Friendly staff, as they help tourist by answering some enquiries regarding Malacca.
Hotel Puri is well-located near the Jonkers Walk area which is the heritage heart of Malacca and near some great eateries, good shopping and cool cafes. The breakfast quality has improved.
