Tepoztlan is an enchanting place: colorful, beautiful, relaxing and historically interesting. Climbing to the summit of El Tepozteco was definitely challenging for us (both seniors,) but we made it and it was quite thrilling to gaze at the landscape below. We really liked wandering in the lovely former Dominican Convent which was built in around 1530. The street markets were great, particularly impressive were the handmade textiles. We were told about the ice cream in advance -- there are several big ice cream parlours on the main street -- and it is really good and comes in every imaginable flavour.

We can see the appeal for people seeking hiking and other outdoor adventures. Sadly for us, we were there on a Monday, and although we hiked to the lookout, it was closed at the top. The main attraction, the convent was also closed. This left little to do, apart from wander the streets, which are mostly restaurants. It was lovely, and we enjoyed out visit, however in the scope of our entire Mexico trip we felt the time could have been better spent elsewhere. Nevertheless, the mountains are beautiful.

I did not enjoy my stay in tepoztlan.
I did not enjoy my stay in tepoztlan. This town does not provide with the basics to have a reasonable vacation. Streets are old and falling in pieces! The streets have no names and the GPS system does not function. I had a rental that caused me more troubles than solutions. We couldn't get from point a to b because GPS did not take us anywhere. We had to pay a taxi to guide us, which caused us more spending than anything.

I would have liked to have stayed 1 or 2 more nights.
I would have liked to have stayed 1 or 2 more nights. It's a beautiful and vibrant town with old town charm. The views are spectacular. Everyone is so friendly. There is plenty to do. I was unable to go hiking or go to the pyramids due to an ankle injury, therefore I have an excellent "excuse" to return.

The market here is great. This cobblestoned town is very nice and walkable. The views of the mountains are very nice. Many eating options and places to shop or just hang out. There are some good hikes in the area.

Tepoztlan is one of Mexico's Pueblos Magicos and as the name implies, it is MAGICAL. it's definitely the most picturesque and beautiful place I've been. The Zócalo (public square) has a market teeming with life and fun artisan goods. The streets are lined with old buildings and traditional handcrafts. The plants flower and the views from wherever you are are breathtaking. It's a quieter town, so don't expect a ton of nightlife, especially on weekdays, but if you're feeling overwhelmed by CDMX, a trip to Tepoztlan is exactly what you need to recharge your batteries. Be sure to stop at Tepoznieves for some ice cream, and grab a Sandia (watermelon) agua fresca from the Zócalo.
If you're a gringo like me, know that very few people will speak English. Learn some Spanish, or download Spanish on Google translate so you can communicate offline. Additionally, the streets are STEEP. my buddy's cheap Chingan rental car literally could not make it up the hills, and we likely killed the clutch on a single hill. Taxis seem to be bulletproof tho, no issues on hills.

Wow, simply wow. From the stunning location to the really good food and extra effort made by the staff, you can't fault this place. Big, comfy room stunningly decorated, attention to detail, peaceful and relaxed, beautiful garden, great pool area and the service, oh the service. I called reception cause I had broken a nail (big problem 😜) and they had me delivered Super Glue in my room in 20 min. In Tepoztlan!
If there would be such thing as a 7 star rate they deserve it and some!
Beautiful, central relaxed small hotel, with a great quirky garden, nice pool, comfy room and a food breakfast. Lovely friendly staff and Marcos, the owner, went out of his way with good travel tips and interesting stories.
Plus they have a yoga room in the middle of the gardens, , if that's your thing.
From London, UK.
The hotel is one of the most peaceful retreats we have ever experienced. Luxurious, beautiful and relaxing. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the restaurant and the meditation and yoga suites. Reception staff were always on hand to help with any questions and helped order us a taxi and luggage storage upon check out.
Nice rooms, great view from the roof! Pool is quite small but we were alone in the hotel when we stayed. People working in the hotel were very nice! Great location right in the city centre.
