From the moment you arrive, you feel welcomed and cared for. Being greeted with a glass of atay as you await your turn at reception is a nice touch; it certainly made me feel happy! I sadly did not learn the name of the gentleman who brought in my bags upon my entry and welcomed me with tea a few times in the lobby as I sat waiting for the restaurant. He was very kind, with lovely manners, and very attentive to my comfort.
My room was exactly as shown in the photos. It was clean, comfortable, and warm, perfect for cold winter nights. The air conditioner sounded a bit like a washing machine in its spin cycle, but this was only a minor thing to bother me. The bathroom was functional and clean, I would have loved some conditioner to go with the shampoo but the toiletries were good quality with a very nice fragrance.
I enjoyed the restaurant buffet for both dinner and breakfast, and there was a varied offering of different foods available. The dinner buffet with the different tagines was my favorite and well worth the price. The service in the restaurant was wonderful, the staff was quick to assist and cleaned my used dishware and glassware swiftly. The staff were kind and attentive to my needs at all times. A very nice experience. The omelet station with chef cooking to your requirements was a nice touch!
Checkout was a very easy process, I was attended to by Mohammed and Wissal who asked me about my stay and spent some time talking to me while checking out. It was so wonderful to feel that my comfort and happiness was important to them and I appreciated their care.
Thank you to all at the Royal Mirage Hotel for a very pleasant stay. I will return in the future.

Commonly spelled Fez, this city was Morocco’s capital during Middle Ages. The city was originally composed of two separate settlements located along the banks of the Jawhar River. Madinat Fas was founded in 789 by Idris I, while Al-'Aliya was founded by his son Idris II. Both towns grew autonomously until the Almoravids unified them in 1070 under the name ‘Fas’. The city is still considered a beacon of the Islamic civilisation, due to its ancient ‘madrasas’ Islamic colleges.
The Old Town or ‘medina’ has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, representing one of the best preserved historic centres in the world. The famous ‘riads’ or small traditional hotels are located in the medina, which is also called Fes Al-Bali.
The city can be reached through Fès Saïss Airport, or from the airports in Casablanca and Rabat via railway or bus connection. Whether you’re looking for a luxury hotel in Fez New Town or a historic ‘riad’ in the medina, don’t miss Booking.com’s wide offering!
This is the worst of Morocco - besides Marrakech. Aggressive people harass you all the time when you are walking in Medina. There are the con-men who lie that it's a dead end where you are walking to, and they get aggressive when you do not fall for their swindling and are unable to extract dirhams from you. There are the delusional bazaar salesmen who quote ludicrous prices for items, seeing you as only a walking ATM. It is not possible to haggle with these hustlers even with reasonable argumentation, as they have already decided in their small minds that you are a walking ATM with no pin code needed. There are the young men waiting for gullible tourists early in the morning offering hugely overpriced unofficial taxi services on your way to the official taxi pick-up area. They call you a racist when you don't fall in their trap. The best thing in Fez was the train station - I could get away from this s***hole conveniently. Consider thoroughly if you really want to travel here to be harassed and verbally abused all the time, surrounded by the stench of human urine and feces.

I travelled around Morocco to different places and the history in Fes was amazing, the people were genuine, but I did feel unsafe in the medina due to its sheer size and also the energy of the place. I would recommend going in pairs or having people with you, whereas I didn't feel this way in other parts of Morocco

The vibe was really chill and relaxed.
The vibe was really chill and relaxed. People are very laid back and have pride of their products, be it food or arts and crafts. Do go on the walking tours. Our guide, Zaki from guruwalk was very knowledgable and fun when taking us through the narrow streets and maze of the Fes medina. We had an excellent time through and through.

The place is real...
The place is real... This is authentic maroccan life in so many aspects. Two nights is not enough. Be shure to visit the famous medrasas. Probably you will need a guide. The royal city and it walls is also worth seeing. Please do a bit of research before you arrive it will enhance the experience. But the life of the medina is the real sight here the medrasas are quite small after all. Actually the hassle on the streets is not that bad - and Google maps works for the most part. Still you would want a guide for at least half a day. Bevare that the hustling can be very strong if you enter a shop or go to see the leather colouring industry by entering a leather shop. They will really try to push you hard to buy and it will be intimidating and not a pleasant experience. Så before you get your guide make clear what you want to do. If you are not the active part they will just bring you to a lot of shops. Food is cheap and mostly great. Night or evenening life in the medina is non existant - so go to bed early or take a cab to a more interesting part of town. Actually most of the cab drivers are honest.

Fes has a very rich cultural of leather works and its people are friendly and nice to talk to. Though it can be very intimidating when you enter the Medina where people will keep asking you to give them tips if they bring you to the Tannery. Do not believe them! You don't have to pay any tips to enter the Tannery!

I would not recommend visiting Fes if you're looking for a clean and family-friendly environment. The city can feel overwhelming due to its crowded streets and numerous tourist traps. Additionally, the food options in the area are often not the cleanest or most appetizing, which could be a concern for travelers. If you're traveling with young children or seeking a more relaxed atmosphere, you might want to consider other destinations.
We staid just for one night and had to leave in the middle of the night to catch our flight but could not have enjoyed our stay more. Wonderful hosts which could not be more kind and did everything to make our stay perfect. We also enjoyed one of the best meals we had in Morocco in their restaurant. Would come back for sure next time in Fes.
Location is perfect, easy access by car and just a short walk into the heart of the medina.
We stayed in many Riads in our trip in Morocco, but Riad Farah stands out for 3 main factors: the breakfast, which is delicious; the localization, very close to the Blue Gate and perfect to explore the Medina of Fes; and the staff, specially Ahmed, who helped and guided us during our stay with information about the city, tours and much more.
I would definitely come back to Riad Farah!
Super little dar in the heart of Fès médina. Perfect location, compact yet very clean & comfortable rooms. The best breakfast I've had in Morocco (I've had a lot!) & superb rooftop for watching the moon, stars & city. Excellent hospitality. This place is great value for money & ideal for a night or two whilst exploring Fès.
The best part of Fes surprisingly was this hotel. We just loved hanging out on the terrace and watching the scene and the lights and sounds of the city. Sunset from the terrace here is magical.
We ate our meals on the terrace. The Moroccan salad has been the best that we had in all of Morocco.
This was our best stay in morocco, due to the kind personnel and the amazing riad design. This riad is most like a hotel stay, very professional and you don’t feel like you are intruding in someones home, like in other riads. The roofterrace is amazing
