To spend a day or two visiting the few monuments it has might be fine, but honestly, this is not a city worth exploring. The people are very cold, and the Soviet-era architecture is rather grim and uninspiring. In short, it’s better to avoid it.

There are lot of great museums around, we can recommend the Latvian War Museum and the Museum of the occupation of Latvia. Both are really impressive. The National Library is also pretty nice to visit but don't much bother with the observation deck, the view is obscured with mesh of dots that are super visible in all photos. Rather go anywhere else. The central market is also very interesting, with lot of food that you can get, also local beer which was very good. We also visited Kemeri bog walk and castles around Sigulda. Both sites are about hour trip by train.

Riga is great easy to get around doesn’t take long to get taxis etc. if staying in Riga would recommend seeing other parts of the country as it’s great to explore.
My experience as a family.
Went to the motor museum but then found an event on at the race track near by which was a great day to watch drifting.
Ice skating is also popular to do.
The zoo was very good definitely recommend it.
Jurmala lots to do there too

Baltic states are truly the new black: clean spaces, authentically restored gorgeous medieval towns, vibrant culture firmly rooted in traditions, calm and courteous locals who greet you upright without any hint of artifice.
Riga is so lovely and doable on foot. And very strategically located, as you can catch a bus in a no frills bus terminal and be in a yet another Baltic capital within a few hours.
Worth noting: it's cheaper than some Old Europe, yes, but don't expect to make it on a shoe string anymore as the prices have seared everywhere.

We were there when the Christmas Market was open.
We were there when the Christmas Market was open. It was nice and uncrowned with plenty of cooked food available and the usual gift stalls. Go on the free walking tours. They are excellent, just make a donation at the end.

The location in the Old Town of Riga was great...just a short walk to many of the attractions and entertainment. The room was small but cozy and had tea/coffee making facilities.Bed was very comfortable and the TV was welcome to unwind for a few hours. It was also very quiet at night despite what other reviews have said.Definitely a place I would return to if available.
Communication via the host was excellent with clear instructions on how to enter (with photos) sent via email a couple of days before. (This is a self service hotel)
Great location near the river Daugava and Old Town and everywhere you can walk. Near hotel there are public transport station (Bus Nr.22 goes to Airport).
Good SPA (for Riga center).
Great breakfast.
I had room with view to river and street, but it was pretty good quiet...you can little bit hear street noise, but only motorcycles and cars with bad exhausts. ;)
Clean room, great beds. Hotel is well situated nearby the main railway, the bus station and the airport bus terminal. The staff were very friendly. We had to check out early to catch a morning flight from Riga airport, the staff ensured we had a picnic-box breakfast to take with us. Hotel is a short walk from the art-deco area and the Old Town.
Very nice location- just around the coner is old town, central market and shopping center
Hotel is clean, modern, with good breakfast and with friendly english speaking staff :)
we Definitely will take this hotel when in Riga again- price is very good for that hotel
We had a most enjoyable stay at Neiburgs Hotel. The hotel provides a very good breakfast, and the bedroom was very comfortable and quiet. A lovely hotel located in the Old Town of Riga.
