The absolute best hotel by far I have stayed at for the last 7 weeks here in Sri Lanka. We treated ourselves and stayed in the lovely Northgate steps from train station. The rooms were huge, modern super clean with everything you need. Service was exceptional! A shout out to our amazing room service person: Kajinthiran, who made our room perfect everyday. I love his many towel animals he made for us. Another shout out to Kajeepan who attended to our needs at the bar/restaurant. The managers were very friendly always making sure we were happy. One of the manager even tried to arrange a cooking demo for me with the chef at the hotel restaurant. The food at the hotel restaurant was most delicious too. We also loved the fact that it was close to another bar and other great restaurants nearby. It was worth every penny!

I recently booked three rooms at this hotel for myself and family, and unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The rooms were minimal in terms of amenities, and the Wi-Fi did not function. As a result, I had to rely on expensive international roaming charges to complete any work or communication. When I raised this issue with the front desk, they claimed that no complaint had been written down in their log book (This is the responsibility of the front desk manager), despite the fact that hotel staff spent an hour in my room attempting to resolve the issue. I am still waiting for a refund to cover the cost of the roaming charges. Eventually the technician on site informed me that the Wi-Fi router was broken. It has now been three weeks without any follow-up communication, either via email or phone from The Valampuri. During my check-out, Bosco, the manager on duty, assured me that the accounts team would address my claim. However, the hotel delayed our departure by an hour while waiting for the manager to appear, which caused a disruption to our schedule, particularly since we were traveling with elderly, disabled family members. Additionally, I observed that the woman preparing omelets for breakfast was coughing directly onto the eggs, which I also reported to the front desk. I skipped eating the eggs. Given the numerous issues encountered during my stay, I do not anticipate booking a stay at this hotel in the future and would definitely not recommend anyone book with this hotel.
