We lived that it was right across from the chairlifts!
The room was comfortable. Big enough for 5 of us.
The toilet was separate to the bathroom which was great. The shower had excellent pressure.
The onsen was nice… a good temperature.
All the staff were courteous and helpful. The dining staff were welcoming. The food for both dinner and breakfast was varied and tasty.
The view from the room and from the dining hall is amazing.

Convenient and helpful staff. I was traveling alone with a young child and they took extra care for him by giving us a large Japanese style room. They also had ski equipment and lift tickets at a good price.

The staff is really nice person! they help us a lot when we get off the bus at a wrong station (middle of nowhere)
Without them we would have to go back to Nagano😭
The Onsen is great and the room is clean and warm, and the lounge is really cozy and beautiful.

Beautiful tranquil setting to visit the Japanese macaques (...
Beautiful tranquil setting to visit the Japanese macaques (snow monkeys) in their natural habitat. They love the hot spring (onsen). Near our Hotel Senjukaku, are a cafe for the best ramen and apple pie, and a villa hotel for sake-tasting. Walk to nearby Shibu Onsen hamlet to taste home-made beer, home-made baked products and handmade soba (noodle soup). And visit the Otozan Onsenji and Amagawa temples.

For me who comes from a tropical climate country, I think snowy season is the best season to visit Yamanouchi. The route in the forest is very beautiful, but you have to come early before the snowy pathway turns into a muddy pathway.

Might be better in winter, but in spring only thing to see was monkey park, and that only takes a few hours ( mostly travel time) as it isn’t very big. I was of impression it was a whole mountain, but it is just one small area you see the monkeys from.
I’d suggest staying in nagano which was nice, and coming to Yamanouchi for a morning.

While Yamanouchi is known for its proximity to snow monkeys,...
While Yamanouchi is known for its proximity to snow monkeys, it wasn't what stood out to me about the area. The snow monkeys just have too many tourists to be truly enjoyable. Yamanouchi has beautiful mountain views, charming winding streets with quirky decorations, and onsen hopping among different ryokans is something to look forward to. If you look behind the main street, you'll see many stairways leading to many shrines. We had dinner at a sushi restaurant ran by an elderly couple, on traditional tatami floors. It felt like eating at someone's house, and they absolutely stuffed us with delicious sushi. Two nights would probably be the best to fully wind down.

Amazing amount of terrain in the ski fields.
Amazing amount of terrain in the ski fields. Need to have better maps (in English) available for the runs. A (live) board showing which lifts and runs are open would be great, prior to entering the areas.
The snow was amazing!!!!
Restaurants were good however the area appeared to be directed at locals (Japanese) rather than tourists. We had to do a lot of work to find somewhere to eat.
It would be great to have some public onsens available in the area.

It is at a great location, just 20 minutes drive to Shibutoge where we saw a majestic sunrise and amazing sea of cloud. There are also several hiking opportunities round ponds and lakes nearby.
The room is comfortable and the private onsen a welcomed relaxation after a day out. Both dinner and breakfast are delicious.
Most of all, the staff are friendly and very helpful. When I visit Shiga Kogen again, this will be my choice hotel.
The staff at the Omodaka could not have been more helpful. The room was great, spacious and clean and comfortable. The facilities, including an Onsen, were fabulous but it was the attitude of the staff that made our stay such a great experience. We were collected from Yudanaka station and given a lift to the start of the Snow Monkey trail.
We also had dinner at the Hotel, which was another great experience and also great value.
A budget friendly hotel, at a good location near the station 👍
The owner is friendly and helpful. He provides a free lift to the Monkey park area.
The hotel also has a little, but private onsen, so you can relax there. It was open even past midnight
