I liked the dorm. Common space is big enough. Check-in was very simple, just come in. There is no staff. Apparently they deactivated the door-code-device which made problems in other reviews. So no safety measure, but it's a quiet small town in japan.
Featuring natural hot-spring baths and fresh Japanese meals, Kashoutei Hanaya Ryokan offers spacious rooms overlooking the Oyunuma River.

I truly enjoyed the Onsen and dining experience. The food was by far the most varied and best I had on this trip. Everything was within walking distance, easy to reach the trails and do it all in one afternoon. The house is very clean, since everyone is just walking around in socks.

Location is good; we like that there is a private onsen in the room but location of private onsen in the room could be better

The unit is not only, clean, nice and neat, the owner is very thoughtful by putting extra necessity in every corner of the unit. 10/10 highly recommended!

Noboribetsu is a small tourist oriented town surrounded by lush mountains and walking distance away from the source of hot spring water that brings to you the Japanese Onsen experience. Mind the occasional smell of sulfur.
Getting there via train and bus is not difficult but can be crowded during peak travel seasons. Food quality was always excellent and the hotel’s buffet covered local and western appetites. Noboribetsu Date Historic Village is about 14 minutes away and is worth visiting. A fun learning experience for the whole family.

Shikotu Toya National Park is wonderful, so much to see and explore. The onsen at the Grand hotel were amazing, very relaxing. I would have liked to visit the Ainu museum at Shiroai, but we didn't have time. The Cultural exchange centre near Noboribetsu Station was very interesting though, and they had excellent ice creams.

The hot baths, buffet breakfast with many local delicacies and location, being just beside the Hell Valley is worth experiencing. However, pricing may be a bit steep for the size of the room we stayed.

If the weather is good, I would recommend going up the Observatory where one could view the entire Lake Toya.
Not to be missed is the Jigokudani - Hell Valley and must try the onsen there. Very tourist friendly (surprisingly big towels were provided).
There was a nice cafe near Lake Toya which serves very good pizza.
Amazing traditional japanese hotel. The staff was very welcoming, the hotel very clean and calm. Very easy to find, in the main street of Noboribetsu, and very close to the Hell Valley. The diner was huge and delicious! Everything felt very fancy.
And the room!! So big, with a lot of equipment! Could sip a tea wearing a yukata right by the window, watching the snowfall. It felt so relaxing! And the outdoor onsen was an incredible experience too. I have zero regrets about booking in this hotel, even though i booked it very last minute!
We stayed there for two nights and it was a very satisfying and pleasant experience. All aspects, including the staff, the room facilities, the breakfasts and dinners, the environment and the location, are all excellent! It will be a good choice if you want to experience the vibe and services of a traditional Japanese onsen hotel when visiting Hokkaido!
Only a short walk away from train station and buses to Noboribetsu Onsen. All the staff were warm and friendly. A good simple breakfast provided; you need to have a glass of milk from the cows raised in Noboribetsu! I was given a discount coupon for the in-house cafe which I used to buy the best soft serve I have had on my travel across Japan so far.
The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom however, was too small for our liking. The in-house onsen was great and we enjoyed using it. The hotel is just a few minutes away from restaurants and convenience stores and from the famous "hell valley". We also had access to the grand bath house from the neighbor hotel which was great.
Spacious room and close to main attractions in Noboribetsu, surrounded by nature and walking tracks and l loved the grand bath or onsen, facing Hells Valley and many pools to choose from.
