The property is stunning. It was an originally an orphanage for girls according to the front desk manager - I thought it might have been a convent. It has a lovely chapel and religious items around the lobby and first floor. It’s beautiful staff are very friendly and accommodating

The hotel was clean and comfortable. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. They assisted with booking taxis and rides for dinner and getting to the cruise port. Breakfast was a very reasonable price, however, I didn't try it (my husband did and said it was fine). I found the hotel to be similar to other budget European hotels. There is a shopping center not too far away that has a few meal options.

A Walker's Paradise Filled with Charming Surprises
Once a capital of the Western Roman Empire, Ravenna is a walker’s paradise and is home to several historical landmarks, magnificent mosaics, great fashion outlets, and charming streets lined with cafés, restaurants and bars.
Piazza del Popolo is considered the heart of Ravenna and was historically the civil and administrative centre of the city. It features the 15th-century Palazzetto Veneziano, the 17th-century Palazzo Comunale, and the 18th-century clock tower.
The most popular landmarks in the city are San Vitale, Mausoleo di Galla Placida, Basilica of Sant'Apollinare Nuovo and Dante Alighieri’s Tomb, whilst the Cervia Thermal Baths and Mirabilandia theme park are great options for a day trip.
After a day of discovery and sightseeing, be sure to head towards the coast for a revitalising swim or relaxing sun bathe at one of the several beaches scattered along the coastline of the Adriatic Sea.
Ravenna Station offers direct routes to Bologna and Rimini. Booking.com offers a range of accommodation options in Ravenna, Cervia, Milano Marittima and throughout the Emilia-Romagna Region.

This was my second visit to Ravenna and I visited all eight Byzantine sites in a week. Quite a laid-back place, although busy with visitors in the main sites. Lots of restaurants and ice-cream shops. I think I could have managed with a day or two less and spent more time in Bologna. Best thing was doing the Koko mosaic course learning how to make Byzantine-style mosaics.

"All that shimmers in this world is sure to fade away again"...
"All that shimmers in this world is sure to fade away again" But then again perhaps no, especially when we consider the glorious Byzantine mosaics of Ravenna. They mosaics have been glittering since the 5th Century, AD.
Like a geode, the package may not well represent the treasures within. A case in point is San Vitale. Rather drab on the outside but an explosion of mosaic colour on the inside

Wonderful little city, obviously worth visiting for the Byzantine mosaics but also for all the charming little corners it offers. I would travel there again to explore it with a bit more time. Two full days or three leisurely days are enough for a visit.

Where we were most surprised, food is the best we have had...
Where we were most surprised, food is the best we have had in Italy. By far, and in a country were food is amazing. Capelatti pasta from Mercato Centrale was an amazing type of pasta. As well as any portion of meat we ordered. Google reviews of restaurants with many reviews do not lie. We ate at Ca de Ven, Antica Trattoria Al Gallo 1909, Osteria Passatelli, Osteria Del Tempo Perso.
The main attractions are not as hyped as in other cities, less visited, but of a unique beauty. Much of the tourism revolves around mosaics, and for good reason; amazing art that feels like is only now restarting.
It is the place where Dante Alligheri is burried, so there is half a day of visiting everything Dante as well.
We highly recommend a private tour guide. visitravenna is a website we found a lot of tours.

We enjoyed Ravenna, it was easy to get to all the sights in old town by staying in the old part of the city. We loved walking around . It was a perfect 3 night stay before we took our Cruise . We took the Celebrity bus to the port . In a half hour we were checking into cruise. We flew into Rome and had hired a private car/driver to Ravenna. It is a 4 hour ride. That part was an inconvenience..our cruise was excellent!

The town was excellent, buildings beautiful, food average except the Fish restaurant we went to excellent, went back for more but was closed on the Sunday, would definitely recommend people visit this town. Easy to walk around, people generally friendly and helpful.
Very spacious rooms, biggest shower we've had in Italy. Very well equipped kitchen, everything you could want, including a full frig/freezer. It was pouring when we arrived at the station, and the lovely landlady had kindly offered to pick us up.. They also collected us and dropped us back at the station after our stay. Doesn't get better than that, really nice people. Lots of cafes and supermarkets nearby too.
We were warmly greeted by Anna. She gave us mainly helpful tips for touring Ravenna and provided us a map as well as use of a travel guide in English. We also appreciated her restaurant recommendations. Also, breakfast at the hotel was top-notch.
For parking, we can recommend nearby Garage Navoni. We were provided a discounted rate as guests of Casa Masoli. Antonio is a wizard at parking Tetris!
The breakfast selection was much wider than usual in Italy. We asked for gluten-free pastry in advance and they provided some. Candies and bonbons placed all over the place. Internal parking lot was provided instead of a parking voucher for the street.
Very quiet and peaceful location with lots of shared space. The host was very friendly and accommodating. Best shower we had in Italy so far. The breakfast was also great.
