Grado in mid September was not too busy so you could get around easily and get in to the restaurants you wanted to. It’s flat for walking and cycling along the seafront or inland. The old town is great to stroll around and stop for regular drinks!

Grado's beaches are clean and demanding.
Grado's beaches are clean and demanding. The sea is clean, perfect for long swims. It is an exciting old town full of alleys, in the center there are two beautiful churches and a baptismal chapel. On the main square are the ruins of an ancient Roman bath. The beach promenade is beautiful. The clothes shops and the restaurants are good. The boat harbor that extends into the city center is exciting.

Grado is a really charming place.
Grado is a really charming place. The beach offers opportunities for everyone, as children can splash in the shallow water, and you can swim farther from the shore. In the evening, the streets and restaurants are full of people and you can eat and drink well.

Pefect city, with an amazing beach and even more amazin beach stuff.
Beach is filled with plenty of bars, restourants, free public toilets, drinkable water and the most amazing part, everithing is wheelchair acessible
Plenty of restourants, and parking spaces. We came by car and the streets are very wide and in a very good condition. There is a local market every saturday in the morning from 9 am to 3 pm. So take care if you come then into the city as part of the streets is closes for cars.
We ate at the Delfino Blu, and Ciao Ciao and the food (and wine :) ) were AMAZING.

Grado is a great place to base yourself for a few days.
Grado is a great place to base yourself for a few days. It is a marine town with tons of boats. We would eat our gelato in front of the marina every night.
We were here for two main sights.
First was birding the nature preserve. We rented bikes in town. We saw quite a few shore birds like heron and ibis and our first flamingo in the wild.
Second was the Roman town of Aquillia. If you are a fan of Roman history you have to see this place. Some of the best Roman mosaics in the world.
