Wow, what an exceptional place! This was one of our favorites during our trip along the Ring Road. The hosts welcomed us when we arrived in the night, and took time to explain everything for our stay and some things we could do in and around the area of Akranes. They stay upstairs so are easily reachable. There's only one other room, so I believe the bathroom is only shared with up to 2-3 other guests. All facilities, including the room, bathroom, living room, and kitchen, were spacious and very clean. The space is literally a house with the lower floor converted to a guesthouse, so with this and the warmth of the hosts, it really feels like you're staying in a home away from home. Checkout is easy and on the later side so you have time to take a quick walk over to the lighthouse in the morning (takes just 15 or so minutes)!

The location was great for day trips around the area, the house was very comfortable for 5 adults: clean, cozy and warm! The kitchen was fully stocked, wifi worked flawlessly, and we were lucky enough to see the northern lights right outside!

Accommodating staff. Trustworthy. Passports were forgotten by us, and staff took initiative to keep them safe while we continued our trip to the southern coast.
The Guðlaug hot tub on the beach is a 'must-visit'.
The Guðlaug hot tub on the beach is a 'must-visit'. If the outdoor location is a bit wild for you, it is also situated right next to the sports centre which has a heated pool.
Also; whilst I drove through the tunnel to get to Akranes, I recommend using the scenic route to get back. It does add a bit of time to your journey, but the landscape and scenery is fantastic.

Very nice small town, in 40 min from Reykjavik and near to many attractions in Snaefellsnes Peninsula in Iceland, so it's perfect location to visit many interesting places around.
The place to be in Akranes, for sure is a Lighthouse, since 1944, unique in Iceland which is possible to visit inside, climbing to the top. From the top you can see a beautiful panorama of 360° , this wonderful and romantic place offer some exhibitions and local music concerts.
Climbe the Lighthouse!
After climbing Lighthouse, may be you will be a little bit hungry, so have a nice lucnh or a dinner in Gamla Kaupfélagið can be very good idea. Very nice ambience, good local foog and local beer.
Enjoy Akranes in every season!

Definitely one of our favorit nights in Iceland! A very nice room/flat with a lot of space, a cozy livingroom, a kitchen with everything you need and a lovely garden. Also our 5-year-old loves it because of the many child friendly details. Thanks a lot, we really enjoyed it!
The instruction was very kind with all information I needed including getting into my room in detail.
Me and my wife enjoyed the coffee the guesthouse provided. Might not be same for others, but it was best morning coffee we had in Iceland for me and my wife :)
Cute little annex room with a good kitchen (hob, fridge, microwave).
Nice location, however near a busier road compared to a lot of our other stays around the island.
