FAQs about hotels in Zadar

Dalmatias Historical Heart

Tucked away on the crystal blue waters of the Adriatic Sea and surrounded by small archipelago, Zadar is sprinkled with Romanesque architecture, medieval churches and protected by 16th century fortifications and high walls.

As the waves crash along the shores, the sea organ will play its harmonic sounds and welcome you to Zadar’s lively and charming Old Town, located across from the mainland. It is lined with marble walkways, landmarks, fascinating museums, and priceless archives.

It is home to the National Museum, Five Wells Square, the 14th-century University of Zadar, and the Roman Forum which features the 9th-century St Donatus' Church and 12th-century St. Mary's Church.

Stroll along the pretty tree-lined promenades and enjoy a meal in the several cafés, restaurants and bars which line Zadar's streets. Visit the popular Peoples Square in the district Narodni trg and shop in the Mercator Centar or City Galleria.

Booking.com has accommodation options in Zadar and across the coastline in cities such as Bibinje, Petrcane and Sukošan. Zadar Airport links the city to several European destinations.

    Crowded, expensive and bad beaches.

Crowded, expensive and bad beaches. Don't understand the hype with the city, it's just below average. Also, I couldn't enter places to visit because I had shorter pants, above the knee. This never happened in any location I have travelled to, and there were 40 degrees outside.

Apartment quality was poor but expensive.

Apartment quality was poor but expensive. All restaurants seem to sell pizzas. Lots of people smoke. Felt I was getting ripped off. Taxi driver quoted me €30 to airport, but charged me €40 cash. He said his card machine "wasn't working". Like Split and Dubrovnik, the place is heaving with people. On a plus note, the beer at Deja Brew Pub is super

There are no sidewalks on the street where I lived (Put Dikla), you constantly look back to avoid being hit by a car. Question: where does the city spend 13% of the tax from tourists? The city's public transportation infrastructure is practically non-existent, with 2-3 routes that do not run on schedule. If 2-3 people are traveling, it is cheaper to take a taxi. I definitely recommend taking day trips to the nearest parks and walking around the old city.

The downtown is kind of small but offering many nice views and interesting buildings. The one of a kind thing was the sea organ and the LED light floor Greeting to the Sun. We found it a great place offering both city life and beaches, we even made a day trip to Plitvice lakes which were astonishing!

Zadar has a very nice old town, many shops, restaurants, and is full of tourists. Immediately outside the historic center, however, it is really ugly. Those looking for beaches will be disappointed, there is a small stretch of pebble beach in Kolovare, always crowded, the rest are concrete platforms. The sea is beautiful. For the nearest sandy beach you have to go to Nin (30 minutes drive).

Relaxed. Locals knew enough English for us to manage.

Relaxed. Locals knew enough English for us to manage. Taxi services good - bolt/uber. Fab beaches and places to lounge. Nice choice of restaurants, not overpriced. Clean and inviting area. Scooters easy to hire. Bus service not used but it was regular. Zadar old town, a vibrant place to be in the evening. Small shops and market open until 22.00. Beautiful church and friendly vibe to listen to the sea organ.

We liked everything. Honestly, everything, from the communication with the lady who welcomed us. To the location of the building,to the size of the apartment, the view. Was so clean. So spacious. The sheets were so clean. Was so quiet. The parking for our motorcycle was safe. Even for cars. Zadar is a must to see. Ypu can ask the lady where to eat forsomegood advices. I strongly suggest and I give 5 stars. (The only think we did not like is that the toilet must had a bidet)🤣🤣🤣🤦🏼‍♂️

This small hotel is incredibly excellent and good value for your money. Staff were amazing helping in every way possible. With a good buffet breakfast and a very convenient parking space on location. This hotel is situated just a few metres from the town which is easily accessible by foot (25 min away) or just 4 min by car. There's a big parking area at Zadar and it is very convenient and cheap. Our room was far larger than most hotels I stayed in.

The location of the apartment is perfect. The studio itself is simple, but comfortable and has all the basic things you need for a vacation, and even a bit more (like a washing machine and a TV). The owner was kind and very easy to contact. All in all, I think it's a gem and I'd recommend it to anyone (who doesn't need a 5 star hotel experience to enjoy their vacation).

it was clean, the staff was friendly, when we stay in 5 star hotels we get a cleaner in every day, the apartment doesn’t get serviced at all but it was ok for us as we were out all day and didn’t stay in the property much.
