The maze of little streets in the Old Town with buzzy restaurants, plentiful bars and independent shops. The business owners were very friendly. A real, living town with loads of tourist facilities, but also loads of normal people and students living there. A long beachfront promenade with most of the tourist accommodation, adjoining an old Venetian town with a little port and lots of narrow streets and alleys filled with shops and restaurants.

So much history, true Crete feel. Stay in Old Town. That’s where it’s all at. The harbor, shops restaurants, entertainment, safety , beach and great people. I’m a woman traveling solo. Small and cosy city by the sea.
Small and cosy city by the sea. It has many nice places to eat out in different price range. I liked most Achinos by the harbour. There is a place to watch the sunset. Local peolple are very nice and welcoming. Many shops to by souvenirs, also for those who would like to save money on hairdresser, nails, spa, massage there were options to choose from. I particularly liked the fact that there was a farmers market once a week where it was possible to buy vegetables and fruits straight from farmers.

It was a warm, friendly town with very interesting sunsets, many bars, restaurants and tavernas with traditional Greek food, with a long coastline and soft white sand beaches. The climate was very good and the sun hot.
