a quaint little town with twisting streets, small cafes, and much to explore, at the foot of Mount Olympus and within easy access of hiking trails and historic sites. For those wanting access to shopping Litochoro is less than an hour from Larisa to the south and perhaps 90 minutes from Thessaloniki in the north. A summer stay provides access to beaches located perhaps 10 minutes away.

Me and my friends used Litochoro as a base for climb of Mytikas peak in mount Olympus. It is touristy place with many restaurants, shops and places where to stay. It becomes quite hot during the summer but i recommend it for a short vacation.

It was a pleasant surprise as we only planned to stay for a layover but immediately fell in love with the city and the area as a whole so we extended for one night to enjoy. Beautiful little town.
Beautiful little town. They had good restaurants and shops close to each other. We came hear mainly to do the Mount Olympus hike. If you are planning a visit for this I would recommend that you get a taxi from the town to Prionia then make your way to Mytikas peak. If you start early and take breaks you can complete this in one day. I would avoid staying at the refuge as it was overpriced and the rooms were very uncomfortable. Instead I would get a taxi back down from Prionia which costs 30 euro one way and then stay another night in Litochoro town. Avoid the Gorge as it was long and he path is terrible.AAnonymous - Scored 1010

Litochoro is a gateway to Olympus, so it does not need recommendations. The apartment we rented was a bit farther from the mountain, close to the sea. So we had the advantage of sea beach, plenty of restaurants and shops.AAnonymous
