The location was great for us. The Ktel bus we took from Ioannina stopped right across the street and the ferry we took the next day to Paxi left from the same general area. I was a little worried that the port of Igoumenista would be dirty and filled with pickpockets like Pireaus, but that wasn't the case. I felt safe there and found the people friendly and helpful. I think the Astoria hotel must have been a renovated older hotel, but it had lighted exit signs and other safety features that old hotels lack. Everything looked clean as well. I think someone has spent a lot of time and effort bringing this property up to date and adding colorful pictures to brighten it up.

Camp is on the beach. Market, caffè and restaurant near by. You have everything and no need to go anywhere from there. Sea is clean. Beach is huge and not crowded. We went with 1year old baby for him it was perfect. Only thing I was expecting is mutual kitchen to be with more equipment but we survived and learned next time to bring dishes on our own. Definitely coming back next year. 😁
