- Archeological Museum!
- Knossos: I found it a bit disappointing, It seems that the rather fanciful reconstruction by Evans 100 years ago destroyed more than 4000 years of earthquakes, fires and wars before. Anyhow, once in Iraklio, visit is a must. Btw., by end June 2024 it was NOT necessary to book the ticket on-line, as stated on the Knossos web site. Just go to the ticket box at the entrance. From Iraklio centre bus no. 2, every 15-20 min, takes 10 min.
- History museum: from byzantine time to WW2; collection of orthodox icons. Interesting for those who want to delve a little deeper into local history.
- Venezian fortress: impressive, lot of rather detailed hist. information.
- St. Titus church. An outstanding beautiful building (former mosque).

As active sightseers we found limited interest in Heraklion itself. Essential to gave a car to get out of the city to other destinations. As most of the attractions were outside the city we would have been better staying further out.

This was a much larger city than we expected.
This was a much larger city than we expected. See the Fortress, must see Palace of Knossos and the Archaeological Museum and then head out of town. We would not have made this a destination city but needed to come here because of the Port to take a ferry to our next destination.

I liked the harbour area for strolling and eating with the market areas for shopping. Knossos was a wonderful experience as was the Heraklion Archaeological Museum. Give yourself two to fours hours to really see Knossos, depending on the crowds and three to four hours to see everything in the museum.
The hotel offers amazing experience, I didn´t expect that much on Crete. The staff was very nice and helpful (especially ladies at the breakfast), breakfast was so fresh and delicious I would come back just because of it! Room is also nicely furnished, super comfy bed, Korres amenities in the bathroom... I hope to come back!
Amazing people, who are working there, created an amazing place to rest. Beautiful, clean and spacy rooms, with smallest details! Comfortable, with delicious breakfast and hot pink chocolate! For 100% we will stay again while visiting Crete. The best hotel we have been to in Greece!
The room was comfortable and offered a good view. The location is perfect; the hotel is located near the city centre which is where you don't want to be. There are a few nice cafes including a queer-friendly bar right around the corner.
The hotel is really well equiped and has all the facilities. They offer you free parking just in front of the entrance which is really nice in Crete. Very close also to the airport.
