Breakfast was creative & tasty. Selection is made from a menu the day before & brought to your table the next morning, which is efficient given the limited space of the breakfast room. Staff are friendly & eager to please, but we missed interacting with the local owners who had been on scene when we stayed there some years ago. It seems like the labor force on the island are all from somewhere else! The view is phenomenal, but it was very windy & we could not sit at the lovely pool or on our terrace to look at it. We booked a room based on its terrace with caldera view, but had to settle for looking out some small windows.

We loved our stay very much. Amazingly kind and helpful hotel manager. Thank you so much! Very good room - everything is so comfortable and thoughtful - good mattress, great shower, balcony with a great view, just perfect. Very good breakfast! Great pool and common area. A very peaceful, quiet place, where you can truly rest. The bus stop is just in front of the hotel - very easy to navigate through the island. The center of the village with shops and restaurants is just a 5 mins walk. We were in heaven, thank you for our amazing stay.

With an island that's so small, you're never really far away. Akrotiri is a very quiet part of the island. So if you don't want to be far from the beaten track, but also don't want to be in the middle of the party crowd or in the crowded city, this is the right place for you. For us, the detailed research in advance was very worthwhile. We wouldn't do it differently a second time, we would go exactly there again.
You can get there everything you need and take a rental car, so that you can discover the island by yourself. The food ist incredible everywhere. Many restaurants have a service to take you from hotel and bring you back after eating for free. A very good restaurant is THE GOOD HEART. It´s also a viewpoint for the sunset and they make everything themselves: wine, meat, vegetables, soaps....so you can buy there little presents for friends.

We visited in October, when there are fewer tourists, so the area was just busy enough to be fun, but peaceful as well. The center of town is very picturesque with numerous restaurants and a few shops.

It's a small quiet village, perfect if you want to avoid the crowds and the loudness of the capital or Oia. Very few options in terms of restaurants but most of them are good.
If you want to get around though, most likely, you'll need a car. The public transport is a mess, in my view. Every trip costs you 2EUR (there's no such thing as day passes), it's cash only (in 2024) and all buses take you to Fira. (There's no direct bus link to other popular locations - like Kamari, or Pyrgos, or Perissa for example). When we went to Perrisa, we took the bus to Fira and we were charged 2EUR each for a 3 km journey. We were dropped off near by a gas station where we waited for a second bus that took us into Perrisa. We were charged again 2EUR each although the driver of the first bus told us we wouldn't. The bus personnel can be quite aggressive, loud and rude. They also pretend they are not understanding if that works in their advantage.
The timetables are not reliable - departures and arrivals have nothing to do with what's displayed on them so you just have to wait at the bus stop and hope for the best. Also your last bus back can be as early as 21:00 or even earlier.
Getting to nearby beaches is also tricky as they have no infrastructure for people who just want to ... walk: you use the same road as the cars do. What I also didn't like (but it's specific for the whole Greece, I suppose) is that they encourage the use of cash. Some restaurants will offer you a discount if you pay in cash; car rentals - the same. I used a local ATM to withdraw 20EUR for the bus. I was charged over 5EUR in fees (3.99 their bank and the rest went to my bank). Wouldn't it be nice to have a nice and reliable and green public transport network on an island which is sunny most of the time?

The local area is good for restaurants, vineyards, activities like boat trips and horse riding. There are some interesting historical sites (castle and bronze age settlement) close by. I really wish we could have stayed for longer than a week to see more of the locality. The bus can be a bit hit and miss, but a really cheap way to access the north of the island, Fira and Oia.

Old Winery Santorini exceeded all my expectations and provided an enchanting experience that I will cherish forever. From the moment I arrived at this stunning destination, I was captivated by its timeless beauty and rich history.
The hotel's accommodations are a perfect blend of elegance and comfort. My room was beautifully appointed, featuring traditional Cycladic architecture with a modern twist. The attention to detail was impeccable, from the comfortable bed to the stylish furnishings.
Amazing little hotel, quaint, charming, clean and very quiet! The location is perfect, 3 minutes walk from the village of Akrotiri with 2 little markets and a few great little restaurants and the local bus for Santorini has a stop right in front of the hotel. The area around the pool is awesome to rest and enjoy the sun! The staff is friendly and helpful! The service was professional and efficient! My room offered a great sea view, too. The rate was fair.
Everything was as per our expectations. Very helpful staff, if you need something they help you immediately. I organized my wedding in Santorini and I chose this hotel for me, my husband, my family and friends, it was the best choice. Everything is perfect here.
Very nice service and lovely people! They gave us information about the island and recommended very nice places! I would recommend this hotel to everybody who want to visit Santorini and do not want to spend 1500 euro per night or in total!
Adorable location close to the beautiful beaches and nice local tavernes of Santorini. Very good service, hospitality and breakfast. Bus and boat service in front of the hotel for all destinations on the Island.
