Chateau Ateni Cottages, hotel in Gori

Nice little cottages that felt really cozy and a private bathroom. There was a big yard with a playground for the kids. The food was good. It was very quiet and a good compromise for a cabin get away but not getting to far away from the city.

Tamar Guest House, hotel in Gori

Located in Gori, Tamar Guest House offers a garden, free WiFi and free parking. The rooms feature a balcony and working area. Most rooms are air-conditioned. Guests use shared bathroom facilities.

This is great value for money, it is basic accommodation and the room is a bit small but I think it is worth it for a couple of nights. We were allowed to view our room before we checked-in in case we wanted to upgrade to a room with a toilet, as the shared bathroom is upstairs just inside the main house but we didn't mind and stayed in our original room. The hosts are absolutely lovely, very helpful and kind. They have a family taxi and can organise day trips for you. The location is good because it is across from a lovely park that comes alive in the evening, there is a bakery and shops nearby but it's a bit of a wall to restaurants. It's a lovely building with a few nice places to chill outside.

Gori: A Day Trip from Tbilisi

Gori: A Day Trip from Tbilisi Gori is a small and quiet town in central Georgia, with a population of around 50,000 people. It is best known as the birthplace of Joseph Stalin, and it is home to a number of Stalin-related museums and attractions. Gori is a good enough place to visit for a day trip from Tbilisi, but there is not much to see or do otherwise. The main attractions in Gori are: Stalin Museum: This museum is dedicated to the life and legacy of Joseph Stalin. It contains a large collection of artifacts, photographs, and documents related to him. The museum isn't well-organized and informative, and thus it is helpful to have a guide to explain the exhibits in more detail. There were photos of several men, but no real explanation as to who they were. We tried to find a guide who could explain things to us, but due to a language barrier, we failed at this. The ticket price is 15 GEL (6 USD) per person. Gori Fortress: This medieval fortress is located on a hilltop overlooking the city. It offers underwhelming views of the surrounding countryside. The fortress is in ruins and didn't really feel like it was worth a climb. Hero Memorial: It had cool giant sculptures but with no real explanation. I also ate at Berkin Restaurant in Gori. The food was nice, but the prices were similar to Tbilisi, so it is not a budget-friendly option. It's clear they are very new to tourists. Overall, Gori is a worth a visit if you are interested in learning more about Joseph Stalin or Georgian history. However, there is not much else to see or do in the town, so it is best to visit as a day trip from Tbilisi.

I've been to Gori several times of the past years. The cutleti is awesome and the fortress is a fun place to explore. Aside from the infamous Stalin museum, there is a interesting ethnographic museum and the war museum.

Lots to see but do not miss those slightly hiding circle of warriors - all cut up with missing limps and obviously representing soldiers that have been slain in battle. At the base of the castle and behind a church.

Good, centrally located hotel in Gori with outstandingly helpful personal. As most people, I only stayed one night in Gori, so the hotel was a good spot to stay. It does have a pool, but I didn't use it. It looked good though if you'd like to get a swim in the evening or morning before or after exploring Gori. Young woman at the reception was extremely helpful in getting us a fare from Gori to Borjomi the next day.

Really lovely experience and stay. Just outside Gori but very easily accessed by taxi if you don't drive. The owner even kindly drove us to the train station in the morning. Dinner and wine tasting was really interesting and a great opportunity to learn more about natural wine making in Georgia. Breakfast was also very tasty including the best honey we've tasted in Georgia.

Definitely the best hotel we lived in Georgia for the budget price. Delicious and variable breakfast. Helpful and hospitable staff. Swimming pool and spa are great bonuses to relax after long trip. We would be happy to stay here one more time in the future!

Lia was a wonderful host, welcoming our family into her home. Even though we stayed only one evening, we learned a great deal about Gori and Georgia. Breakfast the following morning was varied and generous.
