The period property was beautifully decorated outside with Christmas decor, we visited on the 6th of December, inside was equally festive and welcoming the sitting room had a large log fire, we were shown immediately to a lovely suite which had antique furniture, lots of choice of tea and coffee, we we're also asked if we wanted fresh milk for the morning.
The bathroom was very modern, toiletries, bathrobes and fluffy white towels provided, the shower spotlessly clean and good water pressure, very spacious also had a Bluetooth mirror to play your music, I want one!
The bed was super comfy and warm even with storm Darragh in full force had an excellent sleep every night.
Breakfast was 10/10 plenty of choice and my husband had a full English 3 days running discovered hogs pudding now we have to find a recipe!,.Top quality sausage and bacon. vegan and gluten free was also available.
Jason the owner was even kind enough to give us a lift into lynton on the Sunday as we had booked a meal in a restaurant.
The location is just amazing you can hear the river and see the coast from just feet away.
Great location to explore the local area.
Overlooking Lynmouth Bay, this charming 14th-century thatched inn is situated on the edge of Exmoor National Park. The Rising Sun Hotel offers fresh local seafood and scenic views.

The location of the Rising Sun is wonderful, located opposite the harbour in Lynmouth. My partner and myself stayed in January so very much out of season however the pub did lack atmosphere, plenty of people were staying at the property but it did seem they were eating and drinking elsewhere in the evening.
The Blue Ball Inn is located in the north of Exmoor National Park, 500 metres from the sea. It offers home-cooked food, a traditional pub and rooms with countryside views.

Can't possibly get a better value for the money. The room was clean, shower hot, bed comfortable and right in the middle of the town and easy to find. Would definitely stay there again.

Highcliffe house is a wonderful place to stay, and the hosts really care about the guests. The rooms are beautifully decorated, the beds are super comfortable, the views are incredible and you will not get a better breakfast anywhere else.
A stunning place to visit. Lynmouth has a lovely harbour and beach with shops and restaurants all close by and hotels and self catering accommodation. All are within keeping with the history and location of the town. We used the Cliff Railway to go up to the shops in Lynton and the Valley of the Rocks. And walked along the river to Watersmeet Tea Room run by the National Trust. There's a lovely playground near the harbour for small children and space for the dog to run around and play. A great place for couples, families, little ones and teenagers. But the thing we keep returning for is the trees along the river - just beautiful.

Evrywhere in Lynmouth is uphill.
Evrywhere in Lynmouth is uphill. It tries to retain its historic charm whilst inundated with tourists. The early mornings and evenings in Lynmouth are wonderfully relaxed quiet and totally at variant with the manic day times. The walks along the East Lyn and up to Lynton are incredible but not for the faint hearted. The temperate forest on the sides of the valleys was amazing. I will never forget it.

Very quaint.
Very quaint. It is known as Little Switzerland and certainly lives up to that name. We ate at our hotel The Rock House and at The Village Inn. Also breakfast one morning at The Rising Sun (sister hotel of The Rock House.)Everything is within walking distance. All the shops are gift shops or food outlets. Nearest small supermarkets are up in Lynton, easily accessed by the Cliff Railway. There are no Banks, Post Office or ATMs in Lynmouth. Most pubs and hotels only accept card payments.

We first came here 46 years ago on honeymoon so it was great to come back again for our anniversary (we have visited several times over the years) and not much has changed. It is still beautiful, friendly, quiet and a place we will return to again.

Excellent location with beautiful views. Perfect location for walking in Exmoor and Valley of the Rocks. The room was clean and comfortable with character. The shower was particularly good with a heated towel rail. Parking was easy and we were able to leave our car at the hotel even after checkout.
It was very quiet in the hotel as the bar closed at 9pm. The sounds of the river were very relaxing.
Lovely property with heaps of character and gorgeous views over the harbour. The hotel was as warm as toast during our November stay. Bed was very comfy and the breakfast was delicious.
