This was the first time staying in a house, perfect for relaxing and hanging out, shops, pubs, restaurants and buses just outside. You can start the day from your doorstep, making it pleasure to sightsee, trek and relax. Staying at Felltop Cottage has been a real pleasure and I would highly recommend a stay

The hotel was perfect for exploring the area by both vehicle and by foot. It was clean, comfortable and the staff were friendly. A lovely, magical garden area to sit in after a long hike and have a cool drink. The food was great and they serve a lot of it. The bathroom is private and perfect after walking around the lake for a few hours.

Keswick is a nice town in a great location.
Keswick is a nice town in a great location. Ideal base for walking the fells (which is what I was there for). Plenty of outdoor and tourist (e.g. art) shops which are of high quality. That said, I found the ordinary shops and even the supermarket to have quite a limited range and stock. I ate in a few (mainly pub) restaurants. The food was generally very good (unsurprisingly on the pricy side), but with a fairly limited choice. I was sometimes disappointed by the desserts and coffee.

I'm sure Keswick is wonderful, but so does most of the UK on a Bank Holiday weekend. The place was packed. Went to the Derwent Pencil Museum, but left, the queue to get in was into the car park and it was cold and wet. The Derwent Water was beautiful to visit. Wouldn't recommend visiting in holiday season.

A beautiful, well-kept, clean, and interesting little town.
A beautiful, well-kept, clean, and interesting little town. The market (Thursdays and Saturdays) is interesting, well-laid out and full off good quality produce and products. The town has some excellent restaurants and pubs - Saturday evenings are busy and queues form! Car parking can be a test of patience - the best place being down by the lakeside to the West of the town. However, do take lots of pound coins with you!! Parking is a bit expensive and the WiFi connection for the machines is iffy, to say the least - so cash is king! An added bonus for using this car park are the excellent lakeside and woodland walks that start from it - and the town centre is less than a 5-minute walk away.

Keswick is a lovely town.
Keswick is a lovely town. It's dominated by tourism, like most places within the National Park, but it's done well; easy to get around on foot, pleasant, friendly, and not too noisy at night (we were very central). The lake shore is beautiful, and on a bright day the views are stunning in every direction. It's probably the most convenient base in Lakeland if you like walking, with a great variety of trails of all levels of difficulty close by, ranging from a stroll around the lake to a hike up Skiddaw. There are lots of pubs, most of which are quite samey and don't serve great food; there are better options in surrounding villages. There is, however, a terrific fish and chip shop, and there are numerous little coffee shops (we liked the one at the top of George Fisher outdoor shop).
The host was fantastic and made our stay very enjoyable. She 100% made our stay! :) Nothing was too much trouble, the breakfast was delicious and the room was always well stocked with teas, coffees and biscuits. Loved Salem the cat, too. The B&B is about a mile walk from Keswick town centre, and there's a lovely rail path to follow so you don't need to travel down the main road.
Staff were helpful and friendly. We asked if we could have breakfast slightly early and they were happy to help. Breakfast was very nice. Hotel has a pleasingly old-fashioned vibe about it.
Very convenient for town centre which is a short walk away, yet still quiet at night.
