Host was very friendly. We had similar interests in nature. That was a big plus for me. Food was very good .And of the 9 or 10 places we stayed on our trip, this was about the best view! I told our host that I never took a shower in a place with the view that I had. : ))))

A very central location for exploring Scotland's Southern Highlands - easy to take in Loch Lomond , Loch Awe and Oban area and get up to GlenCoe from here. Lovely scenery on the doorstep and convenient local shops . The Real Food Cafe a few miles to the nortth at Tyndrum offers amazing food all day in a cozy atmosphere.

Small town, cute corner store with nice staff.
Small town, cute corner store with nice staff. Best western hotel had a nice lounge and good breakfast options. Nothing to do in the town, definitely just a pit stop, would skip it if ever hiking the west highland way again.

Crianlarich is a wee village in the heart of the southern highlands, ideally placed for hiking, especially if you are climbing Munros -- there must be 30 or more within 40 miles, and about 4 you can climb right from the village. It is very easily accessed by train and bus, although having a car gives you a lot more options. There is one small shop that seems to sell everything!
Places you can visit easily from Crianlarich include Falls of Dochart, Loch Tay, Glen Lochay, Glen Lyon, Loch Lomond, Rannoch Moor, Glencoe, Glen Orchy, Glen Etive.

The village is small with one shop.
The village is small with one shop. The local pub serves good food. The problem I encountered was to do with the misleading mileage on the West Highland Way from Rowardennan. It was actually 22 miles and over half of it over very rocky/muddy paths alongside Loch Lomond. Getting to and staying at Crianlarich was a nice relief

Another great find! A proper B&B in a handsome , this really is THE place to stay in Crianlarich - in John's family for generations, he has honed this welcoming stay seamlessly into somewhere we'll try and return to. From great advice in advance of arriving, to timely advice on where one can eat locally in evenings in the November twilight of the late tourist season, via walking tips with our dogs, his Pine Marten bird-table video (!) and a proper cooked breakfast, just don't bother looking elsewhere in Crianlarich!
Quiet, cosy and comfortable. The bar and restaurant staff are lovely, great with our dogs. The hotel is beautifully authentic, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious
very friendly hosts who had great local knowledge. the property is really close to restaurants and the shop which was perfect after a long day walking.
