South-east of Birmingham, Coventry is best known for the shell of its old cathedral, a poignant reminder of the damage sustained during World War II. Part of its northern wall joins the new Modernist cathedral, designed by Sir Basil Spence.
In the neighbouring gardens are remains of an 11th-century Benedictine monastery set up by Lord Leofric. His wife - Lady Godiva - became Coventry’s greatest legend by riding naked on horseback in protest at her husband’s high taxes.
St Mary’s Guildhall is built on part of the old castle, and Baginton on the city’s outskirts houses the reconstructed Roman Lunt Fort. Also here is Coventry Airport, by the Midland Air Museum, whose exhibits include a Vulcan.
The Coventry Transport Museum houses examples of vehicles manufactured in the city over the years. Also historic are the canals north of the city centre, lined by Grade II-listed buildings. Other attractions include the Warwick Arts Centre – the UK’s 2nd largest – and the Ricoh Arena, home of Coventry City FC. The Sky Dome Arena is an ice hockey and music venue, while the best shopping is found in Arena Park Centre.
The city has 2 universities, so naturally features many bars and restaurants. There are also several Coventry hotels, guest houses and country houses on Booking.com, most with parking and some with pools.
Coventry is an industrial town. After the blitz, not much was left, especially in the city centre. You go to Coventry for two reasons only, for business or to study. If you study architecture and want to understand the town planning of the 1960, when cars were the future of humanity, Coventry is the place to go. Coventry is designed for cars, not for people, not for public transport. From this perspective, it is an interesting place to visit.

I wasn't actually in Coventry.
I wasn't actually in Coventry. I was attending a weekend conference at the University of Warwick. I had two nights accommodation there and needed an 'early bird' night which wasn't available in the conference venue, hence my stay at The Old Mill - which was recommended to me.
A downer for me though is the complex road system around Coventry - multiple roundabouts!

Started off well and breakfast was excellent and the staff were excellent. Due to personal issues I had to leave a day early and when I questioned a refund was given a shrug of shoulders and a goodbye. An opportunity to maybe transfer that paid night’s accommodation to use at a future date would be more accommodating. I won’t return or recommend to this hotel.

My father was a Coventry lad so I have relatives here.
My father was a Coventry lad so I have relatives here. I really enjoy staying in Coventry - it is centrally based for so many things - Stratford-on-Avon, Warwick Castle, and Kenilworth, to name just a few. The city, itself ,offers the Cathedral and the Motor museum which are both well worth a visit.
It is seven years since my last visit and I was very impressed with the beautification of the centre of the city. It has turned a pretty bland 1950/60 shopping space into an attractive place that is an asset to the city.

Went for Godiver Music Festival at The War Memorial Park.
Went for Godiver Music Festival at The War Memorial Park. Festival and park awesome. Went around Cathedral(s) and city centre on the Saturday morning. It seemed clean and pleasant whilst easy to get around
I stayed in the Hilton Coventry Building Society Arena as the location was so convenient for the Coventry Arena. I went for a gig with my partner for our anniversary and the hotel did not forget to surprise us with a lovely deco. The pitch view was amazing! Great service by the staff, and I will always stay here if I go to Coventry for any gig again. 6-minute walk from the train station. Everything is well connected! The hotel deserves 5 stars for the service!
I have stayed at this hotel many times now. The rooms are comfortable and immaculate. Excellent Wi-Fi connection, a good breakfast offered with a wide variety of food. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and no request for assistance was a problem for them. Definitely recommended for a stay in Coventry.
Despite a very late check in staff were super helpful and friendly to the point of keeping an eye out for us arriving. Breakfast was lovely, room very spacious and loved the provision of alternative milks both in the room and at breakfast. Never knew there was such a gem of a hotel in the centre of Coventry.
We chose this hotel as being the nearest most justifiable price for a Concert at Coventry Ricoh Arena. I would recommend Dhillons Brewery near the arena in the industrial estate if attending an event at the arena, we travelled around by Uber.
