Everyone of the staff were very pleasant, friendly and very helpful. Quite exeptional !
Our family room was fantastic. Sharing like that provides us with so much more time together and it can be difficult finding somewhere suitable. This room was perfect.

Service was excellent, both as an overnight guest and as a member of a large dinner party.
Food was also excellent, all our party agreed. I had pork belly, duck and creme brulee...
The room was very nicely decorated, warm and clean. The ensuite shower room was warm, big towels and enough of the usual supplies.
Coffee, tea, hot chocolate and fruit teas, biscuits, milk in the cutest bottles, couldn't have done more.
Breakfast was good, the service excellent and the choice unlimited.
I would highly recommend The Courthouse for dinner or overnight stay.

We like Colchester for its character, its history and the many places around the area to visit. Some parts are a bit run down (where isn't?) and we hope this will improve over time. It's a great city and worth looking after.

Castle, good cinemas and theatres, Aqua Springs and Leisure World and First Site Gallery are all recommended.
Busy in shops and cafes as near Christmas but great Christmas lights on the High Street and in the town centre.

Colchester has much to offer especially to those interested in British history. Apart from the well known castle and museum there are several walking routes to follow. The Roman Circus museum and exhibition is worth finding as it demonstrated that Roman finds are still being discovered. The nearby village of Copford and the church of St Michael and All Angels with its splendid and rare wall paintings is well the trip out. Colchester is also a good base for discovering some of the quieter areas of the NE Essex countryside, coast and estuaries.

Colchester is hell on earth.
Colchester is hell on earth.
Dirty, fighting, the whole city centre drunk full of absolute idiots.
Dirty streets full of sick.
Every thing we bought from the shops was out of date when we brought back to room.
Bees Indian in the town centre, made us all ill. Serving curry with squirty cream and glacier cherry.
The people are very very rude! Absolute hell hole.

Staff were really friendly and helpful. We were welcomed to the hotel and offered tips on where to eat as the hotel restaurant was not open. Very well decorated hotel and room. The room was nice , and the bathroom had a good shower. There was some road noise that didn't bother us, but they offered complimentary ear plugs, which was thoughtful. Breakfast was delicious and made fresh to order. It is in a very convenient location for Colchester town centre.parking is at nacp car park which is only a few minutes walk.
The suite we were offered was well proportioned, clean and comfortable. It was very quiet and had all the facilities. Really pleased that the hotel was able to accommodate our request for a walk in shower. We were in the annexe which allowed easy access to walk our dog. Very well located in the centre of Colchester. Ample secure car parking. Excellent no hesitation in recommending. Gus & Terri Markey.
Cosy, comfortable hotel with period features within walking distance of the historic centre Colchester. Well appointed rooms. All the staff were welcoming and provided very good levels of customer service. Bar open in the evening. The breakfast was delicious. Car park on site was a little tight in places, but there was always a space available. Would definitely visit again.
The apartment was very spacious and very clean. Can not fault the place. The host was in contact right up to and after we stayed. The area was right by the river and was so peaceful, especially after a busy day in the town centre. Would definitely recommend to anyone interested in staying in Colchester, and I would definitely go back in the future.
The hotel itself is great, I travel for work to colchester and frequently stay at this Holiday Inn. Always a great stay, great parking and brilliant location.
