The location is fantastic. The staff are very nice, helpful and friendly. The aurora rooms were truly fantastic. The hotel staff operating the hotel taxi were especially helpful and nice.
The rooms are very comfortable and well equipped the usual amenities. The hero is obviously the snow and the views.
The breakfast spread was great and set us up for full day of adventures.
We would definitely come back to this hotel!
The peaceful Lapland Hotel Riekonlinna is 500 metres from Saariselkä village, right next to Urho Kekkonen National Park. Guests can enjoy free sauna admission and access to excellent skiing.

Saariselka was fabulous in August, there were very few other tourists around so it was lovely and quiet.
Lots of people drive up to the highest point for the sunset but our Glass Cube was just a few hundred metres away, on the other side of the hill, so we could just saunter up to enjoy the view. Met reindeer on the way back.

If you're going skiing, Saariselkä is a good option and you can stay there for a week, for example.
If you are looking for the Northern Lights, maybe 3 nights would be ok, but you you should pray for good weather, with clear skies, and , of course, for the aurora to appear.

Saariselka has everything you need for a winter lapland trip! The ski resort is at walking distance, there are more than three DMC's to chose from when booking trips, there are plenty of restaurants and pubs. THe supermarket is big for a small town and offers all you need. Note that you can't buy wine in the supermarket but there's a small store next to it called Alko where you can pick up a bottle of wine.

It is a small and quiet town. Air is very fresh. Trees with snow on it are very beautiful. You can have many snow activities here. If you stay several days and the weather is good, you may have opportunity to see Aurora.
Bus is very convenient. You can go from Rovaniemi. You can also take bus to Ivalo and Ivalo airport.
Restaurants are very good in this small town.

It is a very beautiful place, but it is expensive. I just stayed for one night in a beautiful cabin. I think that the food is ok and also there could be some more interesting things to in the Hotel do when it gets dark.

The owners made us feel really welcome and did everything in their power to offer top service. We've asked a cabin with open view to the forest and they made sure it met our expectations. They also surprised us with a gift in the room, once they knew that we were traveling for our wedding anniversary. The room and bathroom are nicely designed and very comfortable ,the whole concept of this hotel is amazing and high quality...Nina and her husband have created a hidden gem in Lapland!
We stayed in 6 B 11. We enjoyed the open fire with wood supply, the sauna and the family friendly facilities; kitchen, washing machine. You need these things as there aren’t many options for eating out prior to about 3:00pm. The cottage creates a nice atmosphere for a winter stay over Christmas. Whilst the location is good, it is a fair walk to the centre of Saariselka.
We had our stay at the igloo at Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort on Xmas Eve. The experience was great and the Christmas's eve dinner was fantastic too. Staffs were very friendly there and we did enjoy our stay though it was a bit pricey during Christmas.
The hotel is incredibly cozy, clean and has amazing vibes during winter. It is really close to the slopes and any activities in Saariselka. They offer a private sauna experience and breakfast. Plenty of good restaurants at 5 mins distance.
