The rooms were very clean and the bed was nice. The countryside surroundings were peaceful and there was a little farm nearby where children could go to see the animals and play in the sandbox. If you´re looking for a youth hostel with good rooms and a private toilet, while not caring much about the common areas, this is a good option, especially by arriving by car (as there are no shops nearby).

Beautiful surroundings, recently renovated or extremely well kept interiors including bathroom, super comfy bed and lovely decor. All the staff were very kind and it was lovely watching the horses, cats and wildlife sunset from the communal balcony/terrace. Very good location for exploring different parts of the island. Option for cooking a definite bonus, the kitchen dining/breakfast room was clean and had a nice farm-house vibe. Would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a countryside stay.

Breakfast was amazing and probably 9/10ths of the reason you should book here, too. The spread was incredible with the usual suspects: scrambled eggs, bacon, yogurts, bread station and coffee/tea. In addition they had various local fish including smoked fish (2 types), herring (3 types), fish roe (two types), local cheeses, and local fruits. It was phenomenal. They also have a left luggage facility which is secure.

Hotel Esplanad is 200 metres from Mariehamn’s main street, Torggatan. It offers simple yet comfortable rooms with cable TV and free parking.
