As the city that brought paella to the world, Valencia is a culinary delight. Don't miss out on sipping fresh, local orange juice or enjoying tasty tapas in a sidewalk café.
Wandering this relaxed city is like taking a walk through history. From the Roman remains in the archaeological museum to the futuristic City of Arts and Sciences, the architecture ranges from the dramatic to the sublime. A mix of styles from the outside, medieval Valencia Cathedral comes into its own inside. The gilt carvings and vibrantly-painted dome are a sight to behold.
The greatest triumph of city planning is the Turia River Park. Created on the bed of a redirected river, it provides much-needed shade in a city with an impressive sunshine record. Of course, you can always cool down on the fantastic beaches, lapped by warm Mediterranean waters.
Former hosts of the European Grand Prix, Valencians take their sport seriously and so they should. Try to take in a match at the 75,000-seater Valencia FC stadium to experience the electric atmosphere.
As Spain’s 3rd largest city, Valencia has wild nightlife, so if that’s your cup of tea, city center hostels are a great choice. Alternatively, Booking.com also has guesthouses, central apartments and even hotels near Valencia Airport.
I found the city a little hard to
Navigate - no maps or pamphlets available - I’m old school and can’t work with google maps. Ultimately it did t matter as it was just nice to walk around but mostly found our way accidentally 😅

The people were very friendly and honest. It is a very safe place to visit.
Unfortunately it was a bit hot on certain days. Maybe if we had chosen a better timing would help the walking.
Another incident - I was pickpocketed on a bus.

Had a brilliant time in Valencia, & one of the best things was the '10 Tastings of Valencia' food walking tour we did on our first full day, as our brilliant & incredibly knowledgeable guide [Maria] not only gave us lots of history & took us to several tapas bars etc we may otherwise have walked past & missed, but she also recommended other places to go & where to eat, which turned out to be excellent suggestions.
In particular was Tasca Angel for tapas, & Casa Carmela for amazing paella. This is only open for 3 hours a day (1 to 4pm] & has to be booked. Be aware there are 3 types of paella & you have to order the correct one in advance. We opted for the fish paella which was excellent.
Also loved the ceramics museum, La Almoina Roman museum, the Markets, the Museo Fallero & the whole of the science, art & oceanographic complex.

What can I say?
What can I say? I first visited Valencia last year after a trip to Menorca left me wanting to visit the mainland. And Valencia has had my heart ever since.
An easy city to navigate, with a reliable set of bus routes and trains, you can see the beach and the old town in the same day.
There's a range of eateries across different cuisine types too. The only drawback is that heat levels aren't that intense for chilli lovers!
Great weather, nice people, beautiful beaches and stunning countryside into the mountains are all things that make Valencia one of my very favourite places in the world. Get on that plane!

Valencia is an old main Spanish city with interesting architecture and places to visit which are all relatively close. We understand that the population is about 1 million and it is peaceful and safe to walk around. The locals are friendly and there are good shopping facilities, restaurants and bars.
Well worth a visit.
Very close to the beach, bus, supermarket. There are some nice restaurant on the beach too, very close. For our family with 2 kids, it was a perfect stay. Even though it was pretty far away from oceanografic and city center, staying on the beach every evening was a big big plus. Also we had the possibility to leave the luggage at the hotel reception when we arrived and the day we left for a few hours.
Very nice hotel. Clean, spacious rooms, right on the beach. The place is like in the pictures. Room is equipped to make your staff as nice as possible. Staff is very nice. Breakfast was excellent. Nice beds. I went for a run on the boulevard, so comfortable to just walk out of the hotel and on to the beach :).
Hotel room was nice and clean. The towels were changed every day, the bed was awesome.
The breakfast was good and tasty. Not too much diversity but for us was ok. Fresh and good quality drinks.
The good position of the hotel, on the beach, and near the tram station, metro, and bus station.
Breakfast was nice but it was mainly sweet pastries though. Location wasn’t bad it isn’t in the city centre but trains are very easy to navigate and it’s only about 5 stops from everything. 72 hour travel pass is 13 euros so it is cheaper to stay in this hotel and travel.
