An Architectural Gem Set in a Picture-Perfect Backdrop

Nestled amongst the picture-perfect backdrop of Guadarrama Mountains, Segovia is an architectural and historical gem which blends several charming monuments and landmarks, with a mix of lively bars and restaurants. It is home to a remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Site old city, along with the ancient Acueducto de Segovia and Segovia City Walls.

Beyond the Segovia City Walls stands the fascinating Veracruz Church, overlooking the famous Alcázar of Segovia. Just an hour drive away is the 15th-century masterpiece, Castillo de Coca.

Segovia is popular for a day trip or short sightseeing getaway due its close proximity to Madrid, a short train ride from Segovia´s train station. Segovia is a beautiful walkable city.

Segovia is a beautiful walkable city. The highlight was the Alcazar and the view from the tower. The aqueduct is impressive. Could have spent more time in the cathedral. Was disappointed with the Jewish Educational center as it seemed lacking in depth.

    We loved this old city.

We loved this old city. The Roman aqueduct was a sight to see. Built over 2000 years to carry water from the hills and was used up till 1975. That is amazing. We stayed a night right in the centre of Segovia so was nice to see day and at night. The church area is wonderful and great views from the walls.

The narrow streets with wonderful architecture.

The narrow streets with wonderful architecture. What I didn't care for are all of the cheap tourist souvenir shops that lend the central historic district a tawdry character. Also, contrasted with the cheap tourist shops are expensive designer shops that certainly were not there 50 years. Some will regard this as progress but their presence makes all of these historic centers too much the same.

Segovia is a lovely city, very charming and relaxed.

Segovia is a lovely city, very charming and relaxed. Clearly, the aquaduct is a big attraction and very, very impressive. Whilst it dominates the entrance to the city, as it's at the entrace it doesn't dominate the rest of the city's attractions. Segovia feels very smart, with lots of great bars and restaurants, friendly people and lots of great sights. It's a little spread out, but very walkable, albeit only if you are aseasoned walker.

I loved how safe it felt to walk around and enjoy this town.

I loved how safe it felt to walk around and enjoy this town. It may have been stressful to manage without Spanish speaking friends. I am a fan of wandering through walkable areas and enjoying views. The old town area of Segovia was very walkable. My favorite spots just popped up. They weren’t “destination” spots.

This studio (with a great kitchen-ette) is located super close to the Aqueduct and Cathedral, yet just far enough to be quiet... Spain cities are so ALIVE, all night long..., that when considering a great place to stay in Segovia where you can completely enjoy the sites, receive EXCELLENT recommendations from the host and... sleep, THIS is definitely the right place!!

The hotel overall is great, the building is stunning and most of the rooms are very nice (although there are large differences between rooms). It is located very nicely within Segovia - close to anything you may want to see. Definitely the best hotel in Segovia.
