This hotel was very good value - probably a low season price in November. The room was comfortable and the breakfast excellent. It is advisable to get a taxi from/to the station, but once in the hotel all the sites are walkable, some within 5 minutes. Highly recommended are the Convento de las Duenas where the nuns sell delicious biscuits and the Convento de las Claras round the corner. There is a very good wine bar/restaurant just down the street called Vino Diario which starts serving dinner at 8pm but booking is advisable as it is deservedly popular with lots of local regulars.

An Ancient University Town with Fascinating Culture
In the south-west corner of Castile and Leon, the Spanish city of Salamanca is home to one of the oldest universities in Europe. Declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Old City is one of the most beautiful Renaissance cities in Europe.
Situated next to the border with Portugal, Salamanca has unique architecture including Romanesque, Gothic, Moorish, Renaissance and Baroque monuments. The Old Cathedral dates from the 12th-13th centuries and joined together with the 16th-century New Cathedral.
One of the most charming squares in Spain, Plaza Mayor is the heart of Salamanca and an excellent example of Baroque architecture. Enjoy a walk around the exterior terraces, savour an ice cream or relax in one of the picturesque restaurants.
Founded by King Alfonso IX in 1218, the University of Salamanca has more than 3,500 international students and teachers. Known for its Spanish courses for non-native speakers, the university houses a huge library with more than 150,000 invaluable volumes.
Booking.com offers a great variety of hotels, guest houses, hostels and apartments to choose from. Salamanca Airport is 15 km away from the city and is easily accessible by public transport.
We spent most of our time in the old town. As much as we adored the history and architecture, what was remarkable was how clean and well-lit the entire place was. It made us feel safe and comfortable throughout our visit.

A beautiful city full of history and charm. Make sure to walk to the amazing central Plaza, especially at night when it is all lit up. The cathedrals, both old and new, are a must. We felt very safe walking late at night.

Salamanca is a wonderful city with great bars and cafe's. It's a city with a plethoria of beautiful buildings and surprising sights. Plaza Major in the evening is where people meet to drink and chat.
There are a surprising number of shops selling jamon, which seems to be a local obsession but there are also a number of interesting restaurants and bars.
We stayed a couple of days but would happily stayed longer, just drifting around, stopping for coffee and drinks in wonerful surroundings.

From our wonderful welcome from Enrique to the swim in the pool sipping our cocktails made by Alex this stay was a highlight of our 3 weeks in Portugal and Spain. The hotel was perfect in every way. The room was beautiful, clean and well appointed. You are within the walls of the old town so everything is at your doorstep
We have used this hotel many times before travelling from north to south Spain, and back. It is very comfortable and clean. The staff are very friendly. It is only a ten minute stroll to Plaza Mayor. Breakfast offers plenty of variety. The room rates are very good.
This hotel is in an excellent location for walking to the Plaza Mayor and the historic centre of Salamanca. Our room was very large, and very clean and comfortable. We have stayed here before and would definitely stay again.
