I haven’t checked the metro system. I need to get a card before as at the metro stations they don’t sell cards, they only top up. Therefore, we were unable to travel by metro when we were at the station. But still we found other means of transport back on the road.

Madrid is surprisingly easy to get around.
Madrid is surprisingly easy to get around. Much of the old city is reserved or prioritised for pedestrians. Plenty to see - the electric Tuk-Tuk tours can get everywhere and ours gave us time to hop off and look around some locations.
Also a great base for day trips to neighbouring cities of Cuenca, Segovia, Avila and Toledo. All different and all amazing.
Great selection of restaurants for all tastes and budgets.
The ladies will love the shopping opportunities.

Madrid is a lively, fair price and a great city with many parks. It's veery hot in July and August (even for my local friends) but totally worth it, go in a less hot month so you can fully enjoy your trip. I've been before and I see the difference, the hot weather takes all our energy and we are not able to do much during the day.

On arrival at Madrid airport the staff are not at all...
On arrival at Madrid airport the staff are not at all helpful and seem to hate being disturbed, Baggage security at this airport has always been the worst that I have ever experienced. I only stayed 1 night in the Barajas area close to the airport in all my travels through Spain, so at first it seemed nice and quite there with a small Plaza for views and food but on that same night there was an aggressive street fight which seemed to be racially motivated - so be aware.
this is my fourth stay at Madrid - and the best. located in the business and premium area - the hotel is surrounded by plenty of Brand shopping options as well as the famous el corte ingles. 30 mins from airport and 3 kms from the bubbly and happening Gran via area. the hotel facilities and restaurant as well as housekeeping staff were over attentive to your need. i had two bookings done online thru booking.com hence for an 8 night stay and then 5 nights. so maybe you get to read double reviews
The staff were outstanding. The cosiness of the facility with the amazing interior design and the variety. The flexibility of the 24 hour Checkin and checkout.
Location to city centre was so convenient.
It was busy and exciting down in the bar and restaurants but once in the room, there was the privacy and quietness. I will choose this hotel again when back in Madrid.
I like that it was extremely close to the city centre just 5mins walk and you are in the middle of gran via.
The metro station was literally less than 1 minute walk from the hotel. A lot of restaurants and supermarkets around the hotel The hotel itself was very clean and the lady at the reception was very friendly.
Cheap price in city center, the hotel has best location in madrid, Gran via. Everything is close the hotel. Hotel has a kitchen and the kitchen has microwave, dishwasher, some plates and hot water for coffee or tea. My room very hot and comfortable.
We went to Madrid for a music festival and the location of the hotel was great for that. One bus about 30-40min to the city centre. Clean, tidy and very comfortable.
