A Taste of the Divine
Capital of La Rioja independent community, Logroño is all about the delicious red wine cultivated in surrounding vineyards. Visiting a bodega (or two) demonstrates the care that goes into winemaking: the Franco-Españolas wine cellar is in a historic building with hundreds of barrels in underground cellars, while Juan Alcorta and Darien outside the city offer tastings in more modern structures.
You can also sample a glass of Rioja in the city’s many tapas restaurants and pavement cafés. Calle Portales is the main street and Calle Mayor also has several bars offering good nightlife.
Logroño is on the Way of St James and Santiago El Real church is a favoured stop for pilgrims. Its tower, together with the twin spires of the Co-Cathedral of Santa Maria de la Redonda, become beautifully reflected beside colourful waterfront houses in the peaceful River Ebro flowing under a stone bridge.
The covered bullring and the conference centre are north-east of the bridge, and a shady park is to the west. The Murallas del Revellín are 15th-century fortification remains, overlooked by the La Rioja Parliament building and near La Rioja Museum, detailing the region’s history.
Logroño train station is on the city outskirts and Booking.com offers guest houses nearby, as well as cheap apartments and boutique hotels near Logroño-Agoncillo Airport.

Easy to get around, we enjoyed Logrono and the street...
Easy to get around, we enjoyed Logrono and the street atmosphere. We found an information centre and was able to find other stuff to do as well - we went to the Logrono Music Forum which is about a 20-30 minute walk and enjoyed beautiful music. The City is very safe and we felt comfortable walking at night back from the Forum along the river. The Tapa's and bars where so much fun and so tasty, it is no wonder it is world famous for the Tapa's.

It’s such a vibrant city and the location of the hotel made it especially enjoyable. The tapas zone was literally on the doorstep. Logrono is a little treasure.
Logrono is a little treasure. Easily accessible by motorway and the perfect scale for exploring on foot, if you are based in the Old Town. You can then head out into the vineyards, visit hilltop Medieval towns or head up into the hills for wild swimming. It's has great food and wine at very good prices and the bar staff are friendly and efficient. Well worth three or four nights, particularly if you have a car. There is a free car park at 42 Calle del Norte. The main drag has lots going on In the evening , but the real buzz is in the lanes off it, particularly Calle del Laurent.

I liked strolling around the old town.
I liked strolling around the old town. Plenty of places for drinks with tapas. Went to Pamplona (about 1 hour away) for the 'Bull Run' where everyone wears white with red during the festival and there was a fantastic carnival atmosphere. Laurel Street is fun for tapas. The main challenge is getting there. We took flights from UK to Madrid but then it's a 4 hour bus journey. Bus was very comfortable but not frequent and would need to be booked (busy) which is fine if the flight is on schedule!CD1United Kingdom

The beds were really comfortable and clean. The bathroom was also clean. Alejandra also was lovely, she gave us a route of good places to eat.
