Cáceres was a bit disappointing. The old walled city was interesting and beautiful but only takes a few hours to go through. Thankfully our hotel was right next to that and the area close by had nice cafes and shops. The rest of the city didn't look very interesting. The main reason to stay here, probably, is the Roman ruins in Merida which are amazing. The town of Merida is.... not impressive until you realize it's over 2000 years old and there are Roman ruins all over the place. I'm glad we stayed in Cáceres instead of Merida.

Nice modern art museum, great old town.
Nice modern art museum, great old town. Shopping: perrunillas (cookies) at ISABEL at plaza mayor , torta del casar (cheese) everywhere. Awesome antique /vintage/2nd hand bookshop mainly with Spanish titles BOXOYO. Trendy fashion : la Singular, Miren (very affordable). Design & illustration: el Chaflan (affordable) Beautiful bookshop: La Puerta de Tannhäuser . Great food for value: taperia Yuste (great location, as well) and 8arte taperia restaurante.
You must book ahead "private guided tour with historians" : pricey but probably better than other companies. We didn't like the one we payed for.

Caceres old town only needs a day, once you’re in the old town fairly easy to navigate. Next time I would’ve rented a car or scheduled an excursion to go to surrounding towns and areas , they looked fascinating online . Public transportation not convenient to go the surrounding areas .

Sadly, I couldn't see the prehistoric caves, but it is understandable that the authorities are trying to limit the number of visitors to preserve the caves

It is a beautiful city with lots of historic places to visit. Amazing restaurants to try typical dishes and mainly the cheese! It seems difficult to access sometimes (mainly the old historic area), but taxis reach practically everywhere. Sadly, my trip was a business one and only for a weekend, but the city deserves more days to fully enjoy it!

Beautiful old city, lovely to just wander around.
Beautiful old city, lovely to just wander around. Slightly off the beaten track with not too many foreign tourists there, particularly in February. Speaking a little Spanish is useful. Would definitely recommend.

This hotel is in a newly renovated building in the ancient city of Caceres and was only opened a year ago. Deserves the description of a ‘boutique’ hotel. Everything has been done to make the building and decor attractive. Bedrooms are very comfortable with all amenities provided and have excellent bathrooms. The hotel is in a very quiet street but it is only a 10 minute walk to the main square and the ancient buildings of the city that all need to be explored.
This is a beautiful and original hotel, like stepping back in time in Morocco. Beautifully thought out decor with gorgeous views from the window.
Rosa & Santiago made us extremely welcome, nothing too much trouble. Everything was comfortable and easy.
We had breakfast in their stunning little courtyard. Fresh bread with various spreads, coffee and juice. Perfect start to the day. I would not hesitate to return to this gem.
Caćeres is a stunning town!
We have stayed before so knew it was a nice hotel just on the edge of the old town of Cáceres. Good sized rooms with everything you need.
Evening meal was delicious. Underground parking reasonable for the night at €13
