Friendly team on site. We heard D speaking English, German and Spanish and who knows what other languages he spoke. Good breakfast and close to the beach. We were only able to be there one night but could see reasons to be there a couple. Decent restaurants nearby and if you want there was a means to cook for yourself. Wildlife flew and crawled by so there were things to watch out for. I personally found the bed very comfortable. I like firm but not rigid.
Facing the seafront, Dreamy Contentment is a bed and breakfast offering a 3-star accommodation in Matapalo. It has a private beach area, open-air bath and private parking.

Awesome stay at Dreamy Contentment. Our host Carmen could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. Daniel also was great. I really appreciate their warm welcome. I felt right at home. Great beach. Great place to stay. Wonderful sunsets. I could sit on the beach all day. Thanks again!

If you like to have a quiet vacation where you feel one with nature, this place is for you. It’s different from other cities we visited yet offers some of activities other places offer and it’s cheaper here. Food was delicious and cheap. Definitely visiting again.
Beautiful place, friendly people, relaxed atmosphere. The epitome of Pura Vida.
There are three licensed restaurants worth visiting, Akachete, La Esquinita and Supper Club. All are open for dinner, La Esquinita also breakfast and lunch and Akachete for lunch.
There is Matapalo main centre with police, church, school and shops, also more eateries for lunches and snacks. And Playa Matapalo 15 minutes down the road, with one hotel (Coco Beach) and many B&B's, Airbnb and lodges close to the highly rated beach. Matapalo beach apartments (Jungle House) has a pool as well.
Walks along the beach can go on the ever and the sunsets are magnificent. You can walk to Dominical along the beach, there are 4 rivers to cross which is very easy at low tide and it takes about 3 or 4 hours. The flora and fauna views are incredible and it's best in the early morning. You can catch the bus or take a taxi back to Matapalo.
Also, take a walk to the small waterfall in the hills, it's about 30 minutes from La Esquinita restaurant. And horse riding on the beach in the afternoon.

Great location for exploring the area from Manuel Antonio...
Great location for exploring the area from Manuel Antonio down to Uvita and up into the mountains. There were a number of small restaurants to eat at even though we only ate at one. The beach was nice and quiet with lots of shade trees.

It’s a great place if you want a quiet peaceful experience, away from crowds and along with the nature. There are plenty physical activities on the beach—walking, biking, horse riding.Strong current and big waves are making it difficult and safe to swim, but you can wade in or drive to safer beaches. This beach provides you with a privacy and lots of room to explore.
There is a little restaurant La Kashette a couple minutes from the beach and a small store.

Matapalo is amazing! The beaches are quiet and beautiful!
Matapalo is amazing! The beaches are quiet and beautiful! There is a lot to do around the area yet it is far away from all of the very touristy parts of Costa Rica. Matapalo is safe and you can get around just fine by foot. Sunsets on Playa Matapalo are romantic and the sand is powdery and white. A great beach to swim and surf.

This is a very quiet and small beach community.
This is a very quiet and small beach community. The beach is long and secluded with few visitors. Perfect for those who want a natural setting and privacy. There are only a couple restaurants and lodging facilities...so this is the place for those who want to be outside of the busy tourist destinations and want to enjoy the natural beauty of Costa Rica.

Amazing bed and breakfast just few meters away from the wonderful Matapalo beach (especially at sunset, go there absolutely!!!). The owner Philippe is very friendly and loves Costa Rica. We enjoyed talking with him by the side of the nice pool. Room was super new and very comfortable. We definitely recommend Can Vamos and Casa Aba in Matapalo.
David is a heartfelt host. Runs a brilliant house, nicest in Matapalo, the village being a calm place. His real tropical garden hosts a brilliant fauna. Room, bed, cleanliness spotless. Beach and shop both 5 mins on foot, Coco is approx the last house behind the oceanfront trees. Great breakfast. Safe parking. Good advices as per excursions.
The owners were so lovely, giving us great recommendations and tips for where to go and what to do. Very helpful overall to make our stay comfortable. Great breakfast and delicious waffles. It's a new hotel, nicely designed, and you can tell they take extra care to start things right.
Casa Aba Matapalo is a realy nice place to stay for few days. It's located in beautiful garden with monkeys jumping above your head and a sloth hidden in a palm tree. The beach os just few steps away.
Awesome Hotel with very delicious breakfast. Everyone was really nice. There are really monkeys and we saw a few sloth in the area just walking around. We enjoyed our stay at this Hotel very much.
