Xi'an is one of the great places to visit. It was the centre of an empire for over a thousand years, so there is a lot to see.
Please try to see the 6,500-year-old Neolithic village less than 10km outside the city wall. Those who are perceptive will notice that the area was much warmer and wetter than it is today. Today's colder winters mean the bamboo rats that were part of the diet are no longer available. Colder means drier, so the river deer that used to be another food source are no longer around.
The Muslim Quarter is a must-visit. Go after dusk and sample the food. While you are in the area, see the Bell and Drum Tower, but make sure that you see the Great Mosque during the day. Walk on top of the city wall and check the small market areas scattered inside the city wall areas. The food is excellent, so sample the many different types of offerings. Get a good pair of walking shoes and keep moving. There are too many things to see in one trip but you can afford to miss a few and get them next time.
Visitors will probably enjoy the Tang Paradise theme park near the Big Goose Pagoda. It's like Disneyland without the rides. If you have kids, rent them Tang Dynasty costumes at one of the many rental places, grab the camera, and walk around. It is enjoyable to see people honouring their history and culture as the Chinese do. But it is more than that. Look around and see little kids live-streaming the laser and fountain stores to their grandparents in villages far from the city. There is something phenomenal about watching a five-year-old girl in a Tang Dynasty-era dress having a video call with a grandmother who could not imagine owning a telephone two decades ago.
Walk in the park and see the various social clubs that offer ethnic dancing, Tai Chi, and other activities. Interact with the locals as you try to understand how they live and think. China is a great country, and Xi'an is one of its great cities.

Was good to go to local read for food and markets.
Was good to go to local read for food and markets. The architecture, building to visit too. The Muslim quarter was super cool to try so many different foods too.
And our trip to the Terrocotta Warriors was an amazing day out.
Next time, we would download a money app, as even the smallest business does tap pay not credit cards, and even some don’t take cash.

A city with rich culture. Too many spots (historical sites). One of thing I want to recommend is watching 360 degree animation if you visit Xian Museum. Though only 15 minutes, it is breath-taken and so stunning.
People so nice and helpful. Food is wonderful. Like the noodle and different buns.

Xi'an is the ancient capital of China which lasted for 2 thousand years under the Tsang dynasty. It contains stunning ancient monuments, such as completely intact city wall (you can cycle around as it's only 14 km long) and drum tower (for waking up and going to sleep in ancient times). The Shaanxi museum is the best museum I visited in China (and I have been to almost all the megacities), much better than anything in Beijing including the Summer Palace or the Palace Museum. And then there are the terracotta warriors which is eerie and stunning to connect to ancient China. Xi'an has great restauramts and the people are friendly and hospitable..

Most exciting place. One week is not enough.
Most exciting place. One week is not enough. Will come again. Xi‘an is more than Terracotta warriors. There are many shows worth to see.
However, the visit to Shanxi Historical Museum is overly complicated as the website is in Chinese and not well organized. Even my Chinese guide did not manage to get me a ticket.

We arrived in Xian after first visiting Beijing.
We arrived in Xian after first visiting Beijing. Personally I like Xian better than Beijing, not only the history but also life around is mor vibrant. In Beijing to much control, to much officials etc. We chose to visit the Terra Cotta army as well as Famen Temple and both visits are a day tour. Unfortunately Pit 4 exhibition is moved from the TC army to another museum. Personally I was always impressed by Pit 4, showing the Bronx chariots etc.
There is much more in Xian, one evening we enjoyed a Tang Dynastie show, had a walk in Muslim Street and visited The Great Mosque.

The location is very convenient. Easy access to metro station, food and malls. They even displayed free bottles of water for us to take. There’s also free laundry area for us to wash clothes! The hotel also provided both soft and firm pillows and soft and hard toothbrush too! The staff was very attentive. We did not arrange make up for a day and she was asking if we need her to clean up after she saw us back in the room. I told her it’s ok and she even brought us extra water!
The hotel's location was perfect. The room was spacious and clean. The hotel staff was very accommodating and welcoming. Communication was easy. I ordered food delivery, and it was delivered to the hotel room via a robot. My family and I enjoyed our stay at the hotel and would highly recommend it!
We had a great stay here. This was the best value for money stay that we had while we travelled China. The breakfast provided was exceptional. Big shout out to Andy and Arthur who worked at the front of the hotel - They were fantastic to talk to and exceptionally helpful.
All the staff are super nice. As the name suggests it is truly a designer hotel and is instagram worthy. Great location, close to the Xi’an Wall and subway station. The room are nicely decked up and clean, it is a great value for money.
Best hotel we stayed in China, staff were super lovely and welcoming the facilities were clean and the location was close to everything you want to see.
