We were in Batlow as a very convenient spot for some 13 family members to be together for an 80th birthday party (held at Courabyra Winery). A great little town, nice motel, easy to get to pub and other places. And heaps of apples and nice roadside places to buy the apples.

We planned to ride the Rosewood to Tumbarumba Rail trail on our way backto Canberra from a Victorian holiday. Previously we had ridden Tumbarumba to Rosewood and return so we wanted to do it the other way round which we found a pleasant way to tackle the trip.
Due to other planning constraints, the available options were limited and at the end of a holiday funds limited. I chose the Apple Inn mainly for price - inexpensive.
Apple Inn is well located in Batlow with both the RSL and hotel in easy walking distance for a meal. We ate at the hotel bistro where we were able to get apporpriate food for a reasonable price.
It is an older property and in need of care but it met or exceeded our expectations and requirements.

Batlow is gorgeous - if you want to get off the main road that goes from Sydney to Melbourne and enjoy a lovely scenic drive, Batlow is a nice half(ish) way stop to stay overnight. People are lovely to chat with too!

Having local produce farmers available to the public was delightful, the best apples I've tasted! Also, the local cider is delicious too. Very few options for dining in Batlow, take away cafe or the Chinese restaurant at the RSL. It's central to the region and an easy drive to surrounding towns, walks, scenery and events. This town and region was devastated by the 201-20 bushfires. They used to enjoy year round tourism, but some of the popular places to visit are temporarlily closed. They could use some tourism visitors to give their economy and moral a boost. It's a pretty region, I'd recommend it!

Small town and has so much around for visitors to see and do. Can see the effect of fires and was good to be able to stay and look around and have coffee and food. Suggest that the business chamber and Council provide information for visitors on the sightseeing and facilities of Batlow. They can then be available at the motel.

Batlow is a lovely little town.
Batlow is a lovely little town. There are not a lot of options for meals at night, but the meals at the pub were fantastic. We didn't expect that standard of food from a small country town. We were sad that the bakery wasn't open on Sunday. All the little farm shops are a real treat. We wanted a short break from Canberra and to put something back into the fire affected communities. So glad we made the trip. There are also some great 4WD tracks to do between Batlow and Talbingo. That was not our plan, but made for some real fun.
