Much like its fellow emirates, Ras al Khaimah views the future as a world of opportunity, most evident in the capital city of the same name (also called Ra’s al Khaymah or RAK).
Although its skyline is not yet as dramatic as Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, RAK still has plenty of skyscrapers, many housing hotels and apartments on Booking.com. Some overlook its long, sandy beach, alongside luxury resorts. Watersports activities include diving, and to the south-west is Ice Land waterpark.
Desert safaris are a great way to explore the rugged terrain behind the city, site of Al Sawan camel racetrack and Ras al Khaimah Airport. One of the world’s first spaceports is also planned to be out here.
Saqr Park on the capital’s outskirts is the largest UAE park, and the Tower Links Golf Club is another green spot by a lagoon joined to the sea via Ras al Khaimah Creek. The nearby beachfront Corniche is a popular picnic spot, with landscaped gardens and lots of boutiques and cafés.
More shops are in Manar Mall and the ‘Little India’ district of Al Nakheel. The old city has a bustling souk and the National Museum of Ras al Khaimah, housed in Al Hisn Fort. Another important sight is majestic Sheikh Zayed Mosque with its 4 graceful minarets.

The Lexington Grill in the Waldorf Astoria in Rak Al Khaimah...
The Lexington Grill in the Waldorf Astoria in Rak Al Khaimah, definitely pricey but worth it if you like a steak, try the 1200 gr Tomahawk. Opt for a table outside, also a live singer and waiters were very attentive.
We also went Marjan Island to Claw BBQ Rak, an All American Diner, with old school arcade games. We played pool, darts, basket ball and had a go on the mechanical bull. There is also giant JENGA, table football, pin ball machines and at least 40 sports screens - there was also an outside area with sea views. It won a BBC Good Food Magazine award for the best casual dining restaurant in the Northern Emirates. (all the games and the bull were F.O.C, great value for families on a budget).
If you are still bored and have a free evening a visit to the Al Hamra Mall is worth it - where you will find VOX screens, an ultra modern cinema, with at least 10 screens, something for everybody. Take a jumper it can be chilly and the caramel popcorn is a must (and I didn't think I liked popcorn).
Ras is also worth visiting for the golf - try Al Hamra or Tower Links golf club, we had a good experience in both.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Anantara in Ras Al...
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Anantara in Ras Al Khaimah, and overall, it was an amazing experience. The resort is beautifully designed, making it a perfect getaway for families, couples, or anyone looking for a relaxing staycation.
Unfortunately, we did encounter an issue during check-in. The receptionist was somewhat stubborn and disrespectful, which was disappointing. Thankfully, Salmon, the manager, stepped in to resolve the situation with remarkable understanding and professionalism.
The highlight of our mornings was undoubtedly Scott, who served breakfast with such kindness and attentiveness. His warm greetings set a wonderful tone for the day.
We also enjoyed a lovely buffet-style dinner at Sea Breeze, where the selection of food was incredible. The standout for me was the pistachio cake—absolutely unforgettable! My partner and I found ourselves talking about it long after we returned to work.
Dining at Mekong restaurant was another highlight of our stay. The ambiance was stunning, and the food was exceptional—definitely a must-try!
On the beach, the staff seemed to lack a sense of urgency, and unfortunately, the food we ordered was cold. This aspect could use improvement, as it detracted from the overall experience.
Despite these minor issues, Anantara is a beautiful resort that offers a memorable experience. I would highly recommend it for anyone looking to unwind in a stunning setting.

Everything is very clean, there is always helpful staff everywhere. If you really want to relax, this is an excellent choice. Breakfast and dinner are 100%, faultless.
