After a long drive arriving at this enchanting, beautifully appointed cabin in the woods was heavenly. A glass of wine on the deck, followed by a fantastic sleep in a very comfortable bed (best sleep since arriving in France) and we woke up refreshed. The property is so very pretty, and has a fantastic bathroom too. if you’re looking for tranquility, privacy and nature, with all the mod cons - this is the place for you. I wish we could have stayed longer - it was heaven.

The location is super quiet and calm in the Dordogne countryside but less than 5 minutes drive to a well-stocked supermarket, boulangetie etc. Lovely for country walks and close to river for canoeing. The swimming pool was not something we were looking for, but after arriving during the unexpected heatwave of mid-June, it was fantastic to cool off from the 35° afternoon heat! Alain is very helpful, but relaxed and unobtrusive.

The property was beautiful and they have renovated it to a high standard. The view from the pool area was lovely over the countryside with lovely sunsets. The room is part of the family house but with its own entrance. It’s a spacious room, comfy bed and large double shower. We really enjoyed staying here. The hosts were so friendly and welcoming. They cooked dinner for us one evening and everything was fresh and homemade from their produce or local. Valerie also catered for my no meat/dairy dietary requirements easily for dinner and breakfast. we really enjoyed the evening meal with the sunset. Valerie also took us to feed her chickens and stroke the friendly ones! We had the eggs for breakfast.

Le chalet douillet, a property with barbecue facilities, is situated in Saint-Geniès, 48 km from Monkey Forest, 15 km from Lascaux, as well as 48 km from Rocamadour Sanctuary. The house is amazing, small but has everything you might need! Very clean, nice surroundings and close to hiking/biking trails! The host was really helpful and welcoming.
