For the active travellers, a chalet is a great mix of the outdoors and the snug inside. Usually fully furnished and self-catered, chalets are typically wooden and in the Alpine region of Europe, but can also be found elsewhere in the world. Characterised by their sloped roofs, chalets can be single units or separate apartments, and are ideal for skiing holidays.
Lovely bedroom, big comfortable bed with a firm mattress (unlike many guesthouses where you sleep on a squashy foam mattress in a wooden frame). The house dates back to the 17th century. Good views from the windows, amiable, cultivated and empathetic host and a good breakfast that avoids the standard full English fry-up.
Mark and Dawn were very welcoming and greeted us with a drink while completing the information for the booking. Went over and above the service they provided. Friendly with lots of local knowledge on places to eat & drink. Availability of packed lunch and Dawns homemade jams and chutneys
Liked the quirkiness and decor. Ideal for our small dog, she could run all the way around the outside of the cottage once the gate was shut and she could not get out. Well equipped kitchen and the bed was very comfortable.
The rooms are amazing the shutters over the windows were old school felt like i was in a French villa. The decor was excellent Staff were great conversationalists and very helpful great parking infront of Hotel
Very homely - Mark and Dawn were perfect hosts and made every effort to ensure we had everything we needed. Our room had the biggest bed I’ve ever slept in - super king size. Dawn is ‘a baker and a maker’, we were able to sample homemade jams, chutneys and millionaire shortbread! The breakfast was immense also. All delicious. Wish we could have stayed longer!
A step-back to Edwardian times (candles and candelabra, busts, window shutters, beautiful decor, classic furniture), while retaining a foot in modernity (lights operating on sensors, multi-faceted shower, comfortable bed with duvet). Welcome warm, restaurant excellent (my crumbed duck’s egg was cooked to perfection, while my wife’s chips were models - golden-crisp outside, fluffy potato inside). Waiting staff attentive. Breakfast too excellent, freshly-cooked - no bacon and eggs shrivelling under the heat lamp!
Given list to select choices, so exactly as expected. Moffat is perfect, loved it and hope to visit again and would definitely book to stay at 29 Well Street. Mark and Dawn lively couple who seem to have thought of everything in the way of little extras to make a stay enjoyable..including home made jams and chutneys.
Room very small, not much room to move, dinner was ok but nothing special, bar shut at 20.30 so could not get a drink after this time, no residents bar
