For travellers who love being in nature with an added sense of luxury. Also called glamping, tented camps provide full or limited services, while surrounded by the wilderness. Typically in permanent or semi-permanent camps, these private tents/yurts are a great way to rough it while staying glamorous.
We loved our 3 nights at Cocomock House. Staying in a traditional (yet bright and modern) style Japanese home was great. It's peaceful and relaxing, has a lovely sitting area with hammocks, and it's absolutely spotless. Just a short drive to the hot springs further up the road, and just a 30 min drive from Takayama. Our hosts were super friendly and very helpful. We highly recommend Cocomock!
A little oasis in this beautiful valley.
We enjoyed our short stay of one night.
The onsen facilities are private and very pretty.Perfect to rest our bodies.
We enjoyed spotting wildlife on a walk close by.
The dinner was one of the best ones we had during our stay in Japan, delicious.
The host was very kind and let us store our bags upon early arrival.
Amazing location, literally walk outside and you are looking at the station down the street. 2 minutes walk.
Super friendly staff and welcoming. They provide breakfast, they have free sake for guests. The common area is nice and welcoming. The rooms themselves are modern, clean and sleek. Comfortable, spacey and more western style which is great. Netflix included, clean bathroom with Hot Showers. Great value for money, in fact after staying there, my wife and I were surprised how cheap the price was for what we got.
Really nice modern hotel so close to everything in Takayama. Room was very spacious and clean, nice hot shower and free sake tasting was a plus! On-site onsen was small but nice as were the provided amenities. I would definitely stay here again.
Generous sized room for Japan standards. Comfy bed. Roof top bar is nice and you can watch the sunset on clear day over the mountains. Location is easy walking distance to the train and local restaurants and shops. Nice Onsen bath. The hotel also has private onsen, although they are very busy.
We went to a few hotels this time as we visited central Japan. This is one of the best hotels we've stayed in. It was relatively spacious, with strong and hot showers. The receptionist was also friendly and helpful.
The hostel staff are incredibly amicable. The hostel was transformed from a traditional Japanese house, giving most visitors a nostalgic feeling. The location is perfect for those who want to visit Hirayu Onsen or Kamikoji. The hammocks in the lounge are relaxing.
