Mayuko-san is very friendly and accommodating, she cooked a small dinner for the guests when I was there and told us about traditional Japanese dance. A very lovely guest house!

Offering a garden and inner courtyard view, Guest House Chara is located in Hirosaki, 34 km from Sannai-Maruyama site and 3.5 km from Hirosaki Castle. The owners are lovely and really really hospitable people (with a good sense of humour too). I loved the authentic Japanese experience and was kindly driven to the onsen 3 times!! Hirosaki itself is beautiful and the castle is about a 35 minute walk away, although I personally recommend the modern art museum.

I think this might be the best place I've stayed in Japan. Log burning fire, hosts that bend over backwards to welcome you and they picked me up and dropped me off from Oja station. Brilliant pre stay communication. Excellent facilities.

A charming and cozy cottage equipped with everything a family needs for a comfortable stay. The heating stove was a delightful feature, especially as it was my first time using one. Despite encountering record snowfall during our visit, our gracious host went above and beyond by using his bulldozer to clear the snow, ensuring we had no trouble venturing out during the day. He even made a snow slide for our kids to play! Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience authentic life in northern Japan.
