Hostal Doña Clarita & Vegetarían Food, hotel in Quilotoa

Hostal Doña Clarita & Vegetarían Food is a recently renovated homestay in Chugchilán where guests can make the most of its open-air bath and garden.

Great value. We had a two-level, two-bed room with dinner and breakfast for about $38. It was very clean and spacious. Nice common area with a stove to dry clothes and tea and banana bread and cookies. Good food. They were really helpful when we realized one of the dogs hanging around was actually owned by the owner of the hostel we stayed at in Sigchos. They took care of him until his owner showed up.

The hosts make the place. Without them there's nothing much to it, but they are so sweet and treat you like family. They sat with us for dinner, even though they didn't eat, just to chat. My diet is restricted and they lovingly catered my meals according to what I could and could not eat.

Lovely cozy room with its own fire meant I was lovely and warm as the cold night winds blew. Great location by the crater rim. Staff were very helpful.

Nice hostel, very close to Laguna Quilotoa. As we made a last minute reservation we had to wait a little bit for somebody to open. Breakfast and dinner were good, but not as good as in the other hostels on the Quilotoa loop hike the family was super nice and we even got a little gift when leaving. Also it was very clean.

The location is perfect - across the street from the entrance to the path to the laguna. I was told there was a guard who would watch over our cars at night. It was very clean and I appreciated the ease of having breakfast and dinner included in the price.

The location is great, within walking distance of Qulitoa. Price-performance ratio is reasonable. Rooms are simple but adequate. You could have the staff heat the oven for you, which we gratefully accepted ;) We found the dinner surprisingly good (we even got something vegan). Of course, you shouldn't expect too much, but it's fine (and cheap!) for one night.
