Mario Lakeside Apartments is a recently renovated apartment in Tuk Tuk, where guests can make the most of its free bikes and garden. We felt in love with lake Toba and we were lucky to enjoy it even more at this place. If you are looking for a private, calm, chill place - yes this is it! The apartment is perfectly located in a green, hidden area in front of the lake. Every morning and evening we enjoyed beautiful views and were swimming in the lake just few steps from the apartment. Being for two months in Indonesia it was a first place with such a big space and different shells, tables, clothes hangers, tables etc The hot shower was very good. The kitchen is well equipped, there is a fridge and you can easily cook your own meals. The vegetarian/vegan restaurant that Ali has was very good too. We enjoyed delicious guacamole with sourdough bread and avocado juice. There is a big avocado tree in the garden according to one local woman Ali’s avocados are best on the island :) Ali is friendly and very helpful. We extended our stay twice :) Would love to come back !

Everything was excellent! Best thing about this hotel are the views. Once you open the door of your room, you’re greeted by an impressive view of Lake Toba. It appears to be a new hotel, so the room and furnishings were new and clean. Location was fantastic as well. The hotel is right next to the water, so the ferry from Parapat can drop you off right at the hotel pier and pick you up from the same place. There are great restaurants nearby. I strongly recommend Coffee 2 Go across the street for breakfast and coffee, and Rosalie’s Beer Garden and Restaurant a 5-min walk away for lunch and dinner. Staff is friendly and helpful, though not all of them speak English.

Facing the seafront, Romlan is a guest house offering a 3-star accommodation in Tuk Tuk. It has a private beach area, garden and private parking. We stayed for a total of 9 nights in Romlan; in two different rooms. Where to start with the things we liked? First of all, the staff of Romlan is very friendly and helpful. They even helped us with calling and getting to the local pharmacy to get some medicines for sickness (one of us got ill and they called the pharmacy that was closed due to the Sunday Service and they opened up the pharmacy for us). The food and drinks of their own restaurant were amazing and very tasty & variable; good price value as well! The location of Romlan is also good: the boat drops you off at their pier and all the things in Tuk Tuk are on walking distance. The views from the rooms and restaurant are amazing. If you want to hire a scooter bike you can without signing for anything and you don't have to fuel up the tank (when you get the bike, the tank is full). A free refill water station is available and also some tips & tricks about the surroundings of Romlan and the transport options from Lake Toba to other places like Berastagi or Medan. Definitely recommended to book your stay at Romlan when you are looking for a place to stay in Tuk Tuk.
