Dubbo (1 miles from Dubbo Airport)
West View Caravanpark in Dubbo provides accommodations with a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, a garden, and barbecue facilities. The room was very modern, clean and comfortable. Everything was provided - a parking space, a place to heat, prepare and store food, a very comfortable bed and a very beautiful bathroom that felt like a spa. In addition, it was very quiet, even though there were a lot of people there. Moreover, there was also a swimming pool. Last but not least, there was very nice employee who gave us the keys. Such a friendly and warm welcome. I really liked it and would definitely come here again.

Rented a family room with a double bed and a bunk with a double bed at the bottom and single bed up top. Also had a slide out mattress at the bottom of the bunk. Kids loved it. A lot of kids facilities within the grounds which we did not use as it was only an overnight stay.

Dubbo Midstate Motor Park is within a 7-minute drive of Taronga Western Plains Zoo and Old Dubbo Jail. It offers an in-ground pool, barbecue facilities and free on-site parking. Lovely self contained cute little cabin but yet with lots of space for the whole family. All the little extras like soap and shampoo were very much appreciated and most helpful. The quietness of the cabin and surroundings were impressive and greatly helped the whole family have a very refreshing night's rest after a long day of travelling. Dee, the manager, was lovely, understanding, and friendly even though we had arrived much later than we had planned. Having a car park space right next to the cabin was also a wonderful and convenient feature. The whole cabin was super clean and new looking. All these exceptional features of the cabin contributed to a real 'home' feeling and caused us to feel sad to leave after only one night there. The free wi-fi connections were very strong and reliable and were also much appreciated. The swimming pool was fun to use but the water was somehow surprisingly freezing given that it was a very hot day that day. This lovely cabin totally exceeded our family's expectations and we definitely want to return there again for a longer stay in the future. Thankyou so much for everything, Dee! : )

Dubbo was a great family trip! (My partner completely disagrees however..) We could have stayed for longer, the observatory was incredible, Peter Starr still ran the night sky tour even though it was just our family booked. I can’t believe the things we saw through the telescope there! Nebulas, star nurseries, things outside the Milky Way, stars that look like one to the eye and then are actually 3 stars! The zoo was great too - highly recommend the golf cart hire, the kids definitely enjoyed that more than the animals. But the animals were also great and feeding the giraffes was a highlight - I had no idea they had so much personality! The coffee in town was good too lots of cafes to choose from…. We didn’t do the dining scene proud as we had domino’s and subway for dinner but at least the kids were fed!
The city/town is lovely to visit especially with the zoo and restaurants. However, the whole experience was ruined by the manner in which the hotel managed its business. It was as though there was absolutely no interest in us as guests as the staff seemed alienated from its core purpose. The design of the interior concerned us as there was a myriad of passageways much like a maze. The fire exits were confusing and left a lot to be desired.
2 to 3 days to visit the zoo(2 Days), and an extra day for everything else, do go the RFDS museum it's very good. Try Club Dubbo for food(highly recommend). The Ninja playground in front of it is awesome. Climb up and down hill to make up for those pub meals on holidays.
Dubbo is a great place to visit, with the Taronga Western Plains Zoo the main attraction. While we visited to see family mainly, members of the family did check out the zoo and other attractions. The town is easy to navigate and has all the features of larger cities. We had some great takeaway as well.
Dubbo has heaps of food options and a few good historic places to visit. We wanted to go to zoo, but it rained, so will do that another time. West View was a great park to stay. Lovely host and comfy cabin/rooms. We came in pretty tired and hungry, so just grabbed McDonalds and went back to room and chilled.
For a family trip to Dubbo, I recommend staying at the Savannah Cabins for a peaceful and comfortable experience. Plan ahead, as there isn’t much to do in Dubbo itself beyond the zoo. Bring your own food and an esky to fully relax at the cabins, as they're a bit out of town, but the stunning location makes it worth it. If you’re bringing bikes for the zoo, don’t forget bike locks to ensure a hassle-free visit.
