The economy
The aim is to improve conditions for implementation of measures and nature conservation goals and objectives while taking account of other economic and social targets and goals. To be able to shape nature conservation in line with diverse social requirements, it is important to know how the various nature conservation goals and objectives can be implemented most efficiently and effectively, meaning with the minimum of cost and minimum negative effects in other areas, and the economic value that industry and society place on nature. Work in nature conservation economics involves research projects on the aforementioned issues and others and uses the findings to advise the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) on the further development of nature conservation policy.
