The Austrian harpsichordist. organist, improvisor, and ensemble director, Günther Fetz, studied in St. Gallen (with cathedral organist Siegfried Hildenbrand), Regensburg (Academy for Church Music), and Basel (College of Music and Schola Cantorum Basiliensis).
Many years of intensive concert activity led Günther Fetz to most of Europe�s major concert venues and important organs, including the major cities of Russia and the Baltic states, to Asia, and the USA. Moreover, he has performed at numerous festivals, including those in Vienna, Berlin, Prague, Paris, Montreux, and Strasbourg, the Bregenz Festival, and the Schubertiade Feldkirch.
Günther Fetz was the founder and director of the Austrian Bach Soloists, harpsichordist and organist of the legendary Baroque Ensemble Adolf Scherbaum, formed a harpsichord duo with Rudolf Scheidegger, and was the partner of famous artists such as Maurice André, Guy Touvron, Rita Streich, and Barbara Schlick, as well as a soloist with renowned orchestras.
Over the years, Günther Fetz has made some fifty LP and CD recordings for well-known labels, since 1992 exclusively for Edition Clarino. Many radio recordings and a number of television features, including a one-hour film about the �stylus phantasticus� and the production of a Baroque opera, have been realized by European and American broadcasting stations. A current focus of his work is the recording of CDs for Edition Clarino.
Professor Günther Fetz has also always been active as a pedagogue: Young artists and competition prize-winners, many of whom have meanwhile made names for themselves, have come out of his organ and harpsichord studios. The work as organ expert and as juror at competitions has likewise been a regular part of his activities.
