Geschichte
From the internationally best-selling author of Essentialism comes a guide to making the most important tasks effortless. The intricacy of modern life has created a false dichotomy between things that are "hard and important" and those that are "easy and trivial". Everything has become so much harder than it ought to be. But, Greg McKeown, best-selling author of Essentialism, says, there is a third alternative. In Effortless, he offers practical strategies for making the most vital tasks the easiest ones.

The book jumped around various topics making claims which often felt arbitrary. I did not feel that reading the book gave me a better insight into working effortless

Will Weaton made it all not work for me. He put a face to a character that I had imagined otherwise. The story was not as inspired as in the first book. too many messages for any message to become important.

Geschichte
Life with the Radleys: Radio 4, dinner parties with the Bishopthorpe neighbours and self-denial. Loads of self-denial. But all hell is about to break loose. When teenage daughter Clara gets attacked on the way home from a party, she and her brother, Rowan, finally discover why they can"t sleep, can"t eat a Thai salad without fear of asphyxiation and can"t go outside unless they"re smothered in Factor 50. With a visit from their lethally louche uncle Will and an increasingly suspicious police force, life in Bishopthorpe is about to change. Drastically.

It reads like a Matt Haig but with a more superfluous storyline. The ending was the best part of the book.

Geschichte
How did Fidel Castro fool the CIA for a generation? Why did Neville Chamberlain think he could trust Adolf Hitler? Why are campus sexual assaults on the rise? Do television sitcoms teach us something about the way we relate to each other that isn"t true? While tackling these questions, Malcolm Gladwell was not solely writing a book for the page. He was also producing for the ear. In the audiobook version of Talking to Strangers, you’ll hear the voices of people he interviewed - scientists, criminologists, military psychologists.

Not what the title suggests
Rezensiert am: 15.01.2021
Very superficial. It presents disputed theories as universally acceptable truths. It talked about narrations about what happened in different criminal cases which sparked controversy and divided for years judges, jurors and the public as if they are proven facts and events which the author experienced first hand. Even if the opinions presented seem legitimate, I would like to have been given the chance to make my own opinion by reading an objective account of events

A book to read when regrets are heavy
Rezensiert am: 18.12.2020
I was amazed when I realised that the narration made me feel the fear of Nora. The book teaches without preaching. It calms the mind by making the reader want to think about uncomfortable questions. It describes the thought process that leads to depression without stigmatising the sickness.

The story is amazing. Butcher created a book of epic proportions. It made me cry in multiple occasions either due to joy or sadness. If you love Harry Dresden do not read the book. He is given more opportunities to grow than anyone should have to face..
