THE MILLION-COPY BESTSELLING PHENOMENON

This is the story of Sam and Sadie. It's not a romance, but it is about love.

When Sam catches sight of Sadie at a crowded train station one morning he is catapulted straight back to childhood, and the hours they spent immersed in playing games.

Their spark is instantly reignited and sets off a creative collaboration that will make them superstars. It is the 90s, and anything is possible.

What comes next is a decades-long tale of friendship and rivalry, fame and art, betrayal and tragedy, perfect worlds and imperfect ones. And, above all, our need to connect: to be loved and to love.

Took a punt, glad I did

Not my subject matter, not what I'd normally pick off the shelf but engaged me all the way to the end. A beautifully written book about the human condition.

Great audio book!

I liked the narrators, not my usual genre but enjoyable. It was amazing how Gabrielle could
switch between the past and present so seamlessly and the reader isn’t confused. 👍🏼

Beautiful

There is a beautiful thread of heartache woven throughout this story. I enjoyed this very much, and I am instantly sad that it has ended.

As beautiful as Shakespeare

The two lives of Sam and Sadie entwined over faced is beautifully worked into a full circle. Love this book.

Nice long story

Great sense of place, interesting story and characters and some great ideas for games. I would recommend this as a read, not a listen, the narration is unfortunately monotone and a bit irritating.

absolutely loved

I loved every minute of this read. What a story! Do not be put odd by the mention of video games.

Novel

The story had quite a novel take and was informative about gaming and its development. However, I thought the story waxed and waned and was too maudlin at times, causing flat spots. Didn’t necessarily enjoy the third party storytelling switches either. But it was worth a read. YA readers would probably really enjoy.
