About this listen
A brand-new production of Andy Weir’s modern sci-fi classic, narrated by the incomparable Wil Wheaton, and featuring bonus content from the writings of Mark Watney.
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars.
Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there.
After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive.
Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plain old "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.
But Mark isn't ready to give up yet. Drawing on his ingenuity, his engineering skills - and a relentless, dogged refusal to quit - he steadfastly confronts one seemingly insurmountable obstacle after the next. Will his resourcefulness be enough to overcome the impossible odds against him?
Wil Wheaton, who has lent his voice to sci-fi blockbusters like Ready Player One and Redshirts, breathes new life (and plenty of sarcasm) into the iconic character of Mark Watney, making this edition a must-listen for both longtime fans of The Martian and new listeners alike.
BONUS MATERIAL: This edition includes the following extras:
- “Diary of an AssCan” - Mark Watney, new astronaut
- “I Made It!” - A happy letter to Mom
- “Car Trouble” - A somewhat sad letter to Mom
- “The Earthling” - A postscript. *Available for the first time in this recording

Narrator
I like Will Wheaton as narrator but the performance by R.C. Bray is better in this case.

Fantastic narration
Will Wheaton brings Mark Watney to life. The extra material at the end adds depth to the story, which is, in itself amazing.

Heartfelt Brilliance
I so enjoyed this book. It is written with such contagious optimism. Will Wheaton his narration is wonderful and makes Mark Watney so relatable and honestly funny. I wish I had Andy Weir as a teacher he made the science so exciting real or not I wish I paid more attention in science class as it was fascinating listening. Thanks Audible for a fantastic Editors Extra.

The movie is a bit of a let down now after reading this. I guess I've become one of those the book is better than the movie people.

Amazing story
I don't remember the film this way, but ofcourse films never do justice to the written story. Will Wheaton does a great Matt Damon voice and the story ranges from routine to tense to thrilling with a few laughs thrown in as well. Highly recommended.
