About this listen

Robert Greene is a master guide for millions, distilling ancient wisdom and philosophy into essential texts for seekers of power, understanding and mastery. Now he turns to the most important subject of all - understanding people's drives and motivations, even when they are unconscious of them themselves.

We are social animals. Our very lives depend on our relationships with people. Knowing why people do what they do is the most important tool we can possess, without which our other talents can only take us so far. Drawing from the ideas and examples of Pericles, Queen Elizabeth I, Martin Luther King Jr, and many others, Greene teaches us how to detach ourselves from our own emotions and master self control, how to develop the empathy that leads to insight, how to look behind people's masks, and how to resist conformity to develop your singular sense of purpose.

Whether at work, in relationships, or in shaping the world around you, The Laws of Human Nature offers brilliant tactics for success, self-improvement, and self-defence.

Massive book

Feels like listening to a thesis in its enormity and essay like structure. I found it lacked personality. However, that said it's commentary is thoughtful and profound. Good listen but unsure of whether it's worth giving 28 hours to.

Worst narration I've ever heard

Giving 5 for overall and story because quite honestly I don't think I can make it through the first chapter, let alone 28 hours of this audiobook without putting a gun in my mouth.

I've never done a review before but I felt compelled to warn people just how bad the narration is here. It is a shame given how many 5 star reviews there are for this book. Really hope they redo this with someone who isn't so robotic and monotone.

Wealth of Knowledge

Yet another stellar tome from Greene that outlines in a clear and actionable way, many of the social forces that affect us and how we can adapt to thrive within this web. Narration was a pleasure to listen to and I feel like I have learned so much and enjoyed doing so.

Fascinating but too dense

Incredibly well researched, broad and deep book with fascinating insights into human nature. I love Robert Greene’s work but the one thing I continue to find in all his books is a denseness that makes it difficult to read continuously. Maybe this is done on purpose 🤷🏾‍♂️ amor fati!
