Story
To most, Kal Anderson is a villain. Harbinger of death, keeper of souls, frequenter of nightmares. Doctor Death. Hades incarnate. They say he stole me. Usurped my fiancé and filled the cracks in my heart with empty promises. Imprinted his crimson fingerprints on my psyche and tried to set me free. They’re not wrong, per se. Except it was my choice to stay.

Spicy and darkly divine.

This was kind of beautiful and gorgeous, very dramatic and very spicy. It was a helluva soap opera. It’s a dark mafia romance set in contemporary times and uses the myth of Hades and Persephone as a metaphor for the nature of the relationship between Elena and Kal. It’s wonderfully dark, Kal especially is so troubled. I liked it.

Descend into the nightmare.

A fascinating and absorbing story. A descent into a nightmare and a beautiful spell. Very sad and dramatic. Lots of action. Beautifully narrated by male and female narrators. Heroic characters very strong and resilient. Freaky constructs and boneshard magic, great creatures and so much sadness. An empire being overturned. Four or five different characters point of view, sometimes coming together. It was paradise but it was very sad.
