So much better than the first audiobook’s narration

Worth sitting through the first book’s narration to get to this juicy, twisty plot. Great story.

Story
Victor and Eli started out as college roommates - brilliant, arrogant, lonely boys who recognised the same sharpness and ambition in one another. A shared research interest in adrenaline, near-death-experiences and seemingly supernatural events reveals an intriguing possibility: that under the right conditions, someone could develop extraordinary abilities. But when their thesis moves from the academic to the experimental, things go horribly wrong. They become EOs, ExtraOrdinaries, leaving a body in their wake and turning on each other.

Good story, narration issue
Reviewed: 30-05-2022
I found the narration hard to differentiate between characters and the accents cringeworthy. It got easier further into the book as more characters were introduced that had more distinct voices.
Story was good though. Just a pity about the narration.

Story
Sixteen-year-old Olivia Prior is missing three things: a mother, a father and a voice. Her mother vanished all at once, her father by degrees and her voice was a thing she never had to start with. She grew up at Merilance School for Girls. Now, nearing the end of her time there, Olivia receives a letter from an uncle she’s never met, her father’s older brother, summoning her to his estate, a place called Gallant. But when she arrives, she discovers that the letter she received was several years old. Her uncle is dead. The estate is empty save for the servants.

Great story, not quite as engaging as it could’ve been but still worth a listen.
I kinda wish it was a couple of books so I could learn more lore and have more time to develop all the characters.

Dated but timeless

Ignore the sometimes dated examples (cell phones, phone directories and message services) and just hear the message that you deserve the best. Starting this audio book it felt like the authors were attacking me personally for my poor decisions. I will be relistening whenever I am making excuses for a guy or forgetting to care for my needs.

Story
For many years, Glennon Doyle denied her discontent. Then, while speaking at a conference, she looked at a woman across the room and fell instantly in love. Three words flooded her mind: There. She. Is. At first, Glennon assumed these words came to her from on high but soon she realised they had come to her from within. This was the voice she had buried beneath decades of numbing addictions and social conditioning. Glennon decided to let go of the world’s expectations of her and reclaim her true untamed self.

Story
At some point every one of us embarks on a journey to find love. We meet people, date, get into and out of relationships, all with the hope of finding someone with whom we share a deep connection. This seems standard now, but it's wildly different from what people did even just decades ago. Single people today have more romantic options than at any point in human history. With technology, our abilities to connect with and sort through these options are staggering. So why are so many people frustrated?

I’ll start by saying it should potentially have a trigger warning. I was a bit concerned how it began but I can assure anyone triggered by the beginning it is worth sticking with.
Gently read, this story encourages a shift in perspective in one’s own life as the protagonist does too.

Nonjudgmental sex education and inspiration
Reviewed: 10-02-2020
I have to say how great it is that the author narrated. Apart from giving more warmth and acceptance through her voice it sounds like a nonjudgmental sexual education from the world’s most chill grandma.
The content is relevant, not too confronting but very useful.
